It did take some time to put together -- maybe 8-10 hours total over two days -- (2 people one day, 3 people the next -- 2 with woodworking/building experience) and a little bit of "MacGyvering". (I'm now an expert power driller) There was an extra pre-drilled hole on each of the slide components, but I think (hope) the extra holes were there for ease of putting all the sections together. Also, we had trouble with the small metal brace that keeps the slide from rubbing against the "windowsill" and just put it where we could fit it. There were some wood pieces that had cracks or scratches, but not too bad. We used glue before screwing those pieces on so they wouldn't crack even more. I guess you have to assume this will happen with any wood product. Overall, it was not difficult to build. Instructions were a little hard to get through. We purchased directly from the KidKraft website and delivery was quick. Also, we had a ton of hardware left over which was a little disconcerting at first, too. We're going to get some blue stain to have on hand and put playground wood chips around it. G'kids will be very excited when they come over Sunday!

Rated 4 out of5 byDad the Builder fromOverall great, but not perfect.Overall, the kids love it. The build quality is ok, but I was a bit let down by much of it. The instructions are a bit of a mess. Several of the pieces were not as shown in the instructions or the wrong length entirely. Some of the pre drilled holes lined up with a screw running directly into another screw. I am pretty handy so I was able to workaround and make it all work. There is also no rational organization to the packaging, so be prepared to take everything out at once and organize it yourself before you start. The wood is also very soft and mine came with some damage from the pallet, but nothing some wood putty and stain didn’t resolve. Like I said the kids love the end product, but the packaging, build, and ease of assemble leaves much to be improved.

Rated 5 out of5 bySally C fromCutest playhouse for the kids!This is the cutest playhouse and perfect for our small backyard. If you have the budget to hire someone to construct, highly recommend it. It took a team of 2 people 9 hours over 2 days to build it. No broken pieces or missing items as other reviews indicated. However, the delivery company did leave a large pallet upon delivery that was a pain to get rid of. We'll see how the playhouse holds up with the rain.
