X is cata level, Y is how much stats you need to have (with no armor reforge to start with, on a mythic item) for renowned to be better than ancient, assuming that you have the same amount of strength and crit damage. This takes into account the bonus attack speed from both the base stat of renowned and and its ability, and counts is as a bit more strength and crit damage from reforging some epic accessories from strange to shaded (plus 2.9 strength and 7.25 crit damage per renowned piece, just from accessory reforges).

early game, which is where you are, go for fierce. It gives crit chance and crit damage.

I have a lot of things like this that I have calculated at some point and is just so useless that I have never written a post about. Nobody would have 1500 stats with no armor reforge and no multiplicative bonuses such as edrag (multipliers like that would also (roughly) multiply the result to get 1650 instead of 1500) at cata 25.

Maybe a cata 5 player could have 500 stats, but renowned is expensive and that player could just grind a few cata levels much easier than getting renowned.

Maybe with the new armor from the nether we could get really high stats, but I doubt that they would make renowned better than ancient.
