POLICE are continuing their search for the BBC star Dr Michael Mosley after he went missing in Greece.

Michael Mosley's wife Dr Clare Bailey, 62, alerted police Wednesday evening when he had failed to return home by 7.30pm from his 20-minute coastal walk.

The mayor of Symi, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, said firefighters carrying out the search believe it is "impossible" that Mr Mosley is there and he thinks Mr Mosley likely either "followed another path" or fell into the sea.

At around 2:20PM on Wednesday, witnesses claimed to have seen Dr Mosley talking to an elderly man in the town with one other person present.

Police filed a missing persons report at 10:30am on Thursday morning and helicopters were deployed at 7pm.

It comes asimages not shared with the media are said to show him later walking up a treacherous mountainous path from the town at about 2pm.

    TV doctor ‘wasn’t feeling well’ before disappearance

    Dr Michael Mosley was feeling unwell before his disappearance, reports claim.

    Greek journalist Ionna Niaoti told Talk TV: “It is understood that about 1.30pm local time, he said he was not feeling very well and he wanted to return home.

    “So he went to a coastal path reaching the closest the village of Pedi, and this was the last time somebody saw him in Pedi.”

    A member of the rescue team searching for TV star Michael Mosley has said the search is a “race against time.”

    “The path is not easy to follow, if he took a wrong turn, he would be lost,” she said, the Mirror reports.

    “He could be anywhere, It is a race against time.”

    'We will not lose hope'

    Dr Michael Mosley's wife has released an update after the BBC star went missing.

    Dr Bailey Mosley said: "It has been three days since Michael left the beach to go for a walk. The longest and most unbearable days for myself and my children.

    "The search is ongoing and our family are so incredibly grateful to the people of Symi, the Greek authorities and the British Consulate who are working tirelessly to help find Michael.

    "We will not lose hope."

    Mayor Papakalodouka told The Sun that Mosley had no water with him, adding: “You can’t survive in this weather.”

    He continued: “He could have been walking for an hour.

    “The search is covering a 7km stretch.The area is so difficult to walk. It’s so rocky.

    “He wouldn’t have known where he was going. He could have got lost.

    “Yesterday they were searching the wrong spot. We will not calm the search off but it could conclude today.”

    Search and rescue personnel continued "combing" the island, and a sniffer dog and drones were deployed.

    A Symi local has also come forward to allege that they had seen Dr Mosley standing at a bus stop.

    The resident claimed they saw the TV doctor waiting at a bus stop in Pedi at 2pm on Wednesday - thirty minutes after he left the beach, Greek newspaperProto Themareports.

    To reach the house where he was staying, Dr Mosley would have had to walk a path of about 1,000 metres and then take a bus, the paper wrote.

    Rescuers fear Michael took 3-HOUR trek along perilous path

    Search teams believe theBrit dad-of-fourwent missing after embarking on the hike through rocky terrain on the Greek island of Symi.

    Images not shared with the media are said to show him later walking up a treacherous mountainous path from the town at about 2pm.

    Two rescue workers told The Sun it is very easy to get lost along the trail as it goes inland and doesn’t follow the sea.

    The path is a three-hour route back to Symi Town, where Dr Mosley was staying with his wife Dr Clare Bailey, 62, and another couple who they are friends with.

    Authorities using all available resources

    Search and rescue teams aided by a sniffer dog weretoday focused on retracing Dr Mosley’s last known stepson Symi.

    Every available coast guard was deployed as locals branded the doctor’s disappearance “strange”.

    Divers were said to be “looking into the water” with the help of the Hellenic Coast Guard after search personnel “looked everywhere” else, the island’s deputy mayor Ilias Chaskas toldBBCNews.

    A sniffer dog was brought from Athens to walk the same rocky path Dr Mosley supposedly took alone to get back to his accommodation, and all CCTV footage captured by Pedi businesses was examined.
