The archaeological park of Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth features a diorama of his 1513 landing and includes waterfront acres that once housed the original fort and village of St. Augustine.

I loved this place with the history and the culture behind it. The lookout tower was pretty cold too. It's kid friendly, &They also do military ID Discount

This was cool to walk through although the price was a little high. Also there was a couple of school field trips going on which made it kind of busy. There are several different shows so if you are interested in those make sure you give yourself plenty of time. The gift shop prices were not bad at all but the line was wrapped around the store because of the field trip. Didn’t get food or drink but the god on the looked good and the prices were not bad. Overall it was a really cool experience.

So the peaco*ck were the highlight of this place! Everyone should do it once, so you don't question if you missed a chance. But, if your time or money is tight...its okay to miss this one.It was an okay place to visit! You can finish the place in hour or 2 if you want to do everything. I walked out of the planetarium going huh?Enjoy the peaco*cks...those guys are not afraid at all...I have never been so close to these birds. Lots of people found feathers and collected away. Be careful of the pigeons and peanuts...they will attack you lol.

Prity Patel — Google review

Very fun experience, Denise (Donna) was the best. I was not expecting the water to taste as good as it it. The peaco*cks everywhere is very nice and it was fun to feed them. The planetarium and globe exhibits gave a lot of information. We would come again when we visit and I hope Denise is still here.

Ben Wanless — Google review

Excellent experience!... and you actually learn something too. Family fun experience. Lots to see. Lots for the kiddos to run around and touch, taste, climb-on. PLUS lots of spots to sit down, rest, enjoy the scenery. There's a few inside shows too. DEFINITELY do all the attractions... my favorite was the 3d globe experience. So freaking cool!

Laurie Heidtman — Google review

I was so looking forward to this. It was very tired feeling and an extreme tourist trap. It felt like on of the old roadside exhibits that had seen better days. As history buffs we put on some huge blinders and tried to really appreciate the significance. The history is incredible. Just humbling. We are thankful to be able to walk these grounds and learn.

Michelle Haley — Google review

The Fountain of Youth was fun to visit! It is a museum, archeological site and it also has a coastal view with its own natural charm. Walking around the complex is filled with history and culture. It allows visitors to understand how life was around the arrival of the Spaniards to this US coast, the natives that they found, and live demonstrations of the armament and household equipment of the era. I would not recommend to make it with limited time, and to leave at least 60-90 minutes to enjoy it.

Maricha MartinezSosa — Google review

Was not expecting much from the park and was very surprised at how much fun it was. Spent about 2 hours there. There are a half dozen different shows or demonstrations. Nothing big or crazy but small time fun for sure. Staff was amazing. Lots of free parking for the park. Good sized gift shop. Also a smokehouse in the parking lot that was very good. Absolutely worth the time and money to visit when in the area if you're looking for a very low key couple hours of enjoyment.

Cory Rice — Google review

It's a tourist trap. Save your $. The water coming out of the well is heavily treated with chlorine and made my stomach sick. Has a few things to see. I have peaco*cks, but all of theirs were still very enjoyable. They were beautiful. They did fire a cannon off and old style gun. Good presentation, however not worth the $20/pp. They offer a slight senior discount and military discount.

Cristi Karr — Google review

Beautiful grounds and access to see and drink from the Fountain of Youth. The spring was originally at ground level but had since dropped to more than 200 feet below the surface. However, the recreation of its original structure and access to drink from it were appreciated.Outside of this you’ll find mulch/dirt paths weaving through the grounds of the original settlement. There is a planetarium and theater onsite, and I’d highly recommend checking the schedule for those in advance if you’re interested. These entertainment features, like some demonstrations throughout the grounds, only run at specified times. The theater is a small room with two TVs playing what is, obviously, content created several years ago. It’s very educational when it comes to the history of the settlement. For example, there was an exhibit encasing the burial ground explaining the process and impact of religious affiliations. You’ll also find a gift shop selling bottled water from the spring, a barbecue joint, and coffee.Ultimately a 4/5 may be too generous considering the entertainment aspects were lacking. However, the preservation and info of the original settlement packaged with the renowned Fountain of Youth are worth the price of admission.

Zachary Herb — Google review

The grounds are absolutely stunning and provide an excellent opportunity to learn about various native plants. The historic burial ground is a must-visit spot, and I must say that the air feels quite heavy in the old burial hut, which adds to the eerie experience. For history buffs, there are plenty of areas to explore, such as the old huts. The cannon firing hourly, peaco*cks roaming around, and the chance to feed birds are all fantastic experiences that I highly recommend. The gift shop and outdoor restaurant make for a convenient and enjoyable visit. However, I must say that this place may be more suitable for adults than for kids, as they may become bored quickly.

Nat — Google review

Really fun stop that is a lot less touristy than it seems on the surface. Loved all of the preserved history, the firing of the canons, the lookout tower, and of course drinking from the fountain of youth. The peaco*cks are incredibly tolerant of humans being in their space. You can feed them, bring quarters.

Kimberly Riggle — Google review

Highly recommend starting your day of history in St Augustine here. Lots to see and learn, and be sure to take your drink from the Fountain of Youth.Be prepared for large tour groups throughout the day. And, be prepared for a lot of interaction with the resident Peaco*cks. They're everywhere. Beautiful creatures with a distictive sound.Awesome views from the pier too.

Timmy Shigley — Google review

This is a must see attraction when in St Augustine! It entails great history that is well presented and made enjoyable for all ages. The planetarium and world globe shows are really nice. The grounds are loaded with history from old cannons to Indians that settled there, and is an educational experience for anyone visiting..The kids loved drinking from the fountain of youth and learned a lot about Florida history.

Melissa Verboon — Google review

Nice place to check out in the area. You can drink from the fountain and see exhibits like cannon shooting and blacksmithing. Nice views from the tower and river walk. Lots of peaco*cks and nice gift shop with little bottles of the water. It's 20 USD per person, though, which I would say is a bit steep for what you get.

Rachel Kreynin — Google review

Good place to walk and see so many beautiful things, don’t drink the water of the fountain taste weird, 🧐 many place to chose front to eat, lots of stores to shop. You can ride the train 🚂 and learn about the history of this wonderful, st. Augustine. Lots of places to taste from - wine, chocolate etc, Be prepared to walk

Yaneth Barreto — Google review

This is a great place to visit, talk to people and learn more about the history. The most exciting thing was firing the canon and the gun. The water from the fountail is not so refreshing as I would like but it is filtered and drinkable.

Jelena Ristić — Google review

This was one of my favorite places to visit while in St. Augustine. I went thinking I was only going to see the fountain of youth but it was so much more. The peaco*cks roaming around was cool to see too.

Jenette VanOrden — Google review

Cannot say enough good things about this place. My wife and I have been several times. It’s beautiful and a terrific place to learn about history and to enjoy the scenery. Even our teens enjoyed the visit. Go learn about the earliest settlement in the nation. For additional fun, read up on the buried treasure that MIGHT be buried there… 😁

Chaplain Chris Linzey — Google review

A beautiful, historical park. There is more than just the fountain of youth! We decided to get the annual pass so we didn’t have to do it all in one day, and also because it’s a beautiful place to walk. Aside from the fountain we enjoyed the peaco*cks, and the pier. If you’re hungry there is a BBQ restaurant.

This is the oldest continuously running theme park in the world! Great activities for kids and adults. Also you will live forever if you drink the water

As I stepped into Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, I felt a sense of anticipation mingled with awe. This wasn't just any historical site; it was a gateway to the past, promising to unravel the mysteries of centuries gone by.Wandering through the park, I found myself transported back in time. Surrounded by lush foliage and the gentle trickle of water, I couldn't help but imagine what life was like for the ancient inhabitants of St. Augustine.Exploring the meticulously reconstructed dwellings and artifacts, I marveled at the craftsmanship of generations long past. Each exhibit seemed to tell a story, offering glimpses into the lives of those who once called this land home.Of course, no visit to Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth would be complete without a stop at the legendary fountain itself. As I dipped my fingers into its crystal-clear waters, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. Was it true that drinking from these springs could grant eternal youth? Perhaps not, but in that moment, it didn't seem to matter.Throughout my visit, I found myself drawn to the park's immersive experiences. From interactive exhibits to informative guided tours, there was always something new to discover. Whether learning about the region's indigenous history or exploring Spanish colonialism, I felt a deeper connection to the past with each passing moment.Leaving Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had just embarked on a journey through time. It was more than just a tourist attraction; it was a chance to reconnect with history in a meaningful way. And as I stepped back into the modern world, I carried with me a newfound appreciation for the timeless charm of this iconic destination.

This was such a cool and historical experience! They had so much to show you about all of Florida's origin story and history. Not only that, but also about how the first people to the area lived. All of the guides at each of their respective locations are more than knowledgeable. Geronimo, the blacksmith, was by far the most informative, entertaining, and jovial of all of the different stops you make along your journey, but every one has different opinions. I stood there and talked with him and found out he's actually a marine biologist, but found a new love of working in the park systems of Florida through this location and took on blacksmithing as an apprentice and just recently became a certified blacksmith himself! Super impressive and admirable. All in all, this is worth a visit to at least once in your life.

Timmy McCann — Google review

There are tours available where they show about how life was back in the day. They have a blacksmith station with an actual blacksmith that shows his work. There is also the Fountain of Youth, where you can taste the water from the fountain. Also, they show you how Indians built their houses back in the days, and they have replicas displayed for you to see. They also show the cannon, and they demonstrate how they used to use them. It is very nice. There are a lot of peaco*cks, you can buy food and feed them. There are restrooms available for the public and also a gift shop as you leave. It is a very nice place to visit either with family or as a field trip.

Daniela Arancibia — Google review

Had a wonderful time visiting the Fountain of Youth park. Did not expect to spend so long here, but there was actually quite a bit to see, and lots of pictures to take. All of the demonstrations (blacksmith, cannon firing, weapons demonstration) were neat and the staff were friendly and knew what they were talking about.Of course, the water itself - it was... fine? haha. Definitely very minerally, but if you've drank mountain/spring water, it tastes quite familiar.Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Fortress

Sights & Landmarks

Castillo de San Marcos National Monument is a historic fort that offers self-guided tours, showcasing its drawbridge and gun deck, as well as providing stunning views of Matanzas Bay. This masonry fort, the oldest of its kind in the country, was constructed to safeguard Spain's territorial claims in Florida following pirate attacks during the late 1500s.

As cool as the first time I saw it as a kid. A great visit for fans of history and for kids! There are lots of ranger led activities around and all of them are a ton of fun while being very informative. Parking is difficult, but there is a lot of street parking along the waterfront if the lot by the fort is full.

Orion Maier — Google review

One of my favorite forts! This location has so many interesting places to walk around and check out throughout the whole fort as you learn so much from every place you look in! I managed to come in for free on National Park Day so definitely take advantage when it happens! Make sure to arrive on some days where they demonstrate a cannon launch! It’s an experience I would never forget! Definitely bring your national park stamp book if you have one to get the stamp!

Daniel Duran — Google review

This was amazing! The fort is so cool and preserved very nicely. The park rangers were happy to answer questions and sharing interesting tid bits. We have a park pass so we got in for free but I still think it would have been worth the price.Lighting was withing the 5 miles or whatever it is when we got in so we couldn't go to the top for a bit. We took our time on the ground level and read all the signs and explored the top as soon as it opened. I wish we could have gone on a night when they shoot the canons off. That would be such an amazing thing to see!I highly recommend going, you won't regret it.

Susan Pullan — Google review

This was quite an interesting place to visit. So much history here. We have a 4th grader so we we’re able to get in for free. You can get into any national park for free as part of a program for 4th graders nationwide. The displays were all very informative and the staff here was super friendly. There is a scavenger hunt game that is great for the kids. The views of the harbor and the Bridge of Lions were incredible. Parking here in the afternoon can get crazy. We had to drive around the parking lot a couple of times to catch someone leaving. You pay per hour to park but we took our time and we’re there just about 2 hours.

Jon H — Google review

As a point of historical significance, the reference and homage pair to this fort by the staff and local community is apparent from the ticket gate. The actors that interact with the public are very impressive with the attention to detail and period knowledge they exhibit and the cannon firing demonstration is a must see.Nearby parking is very limited, but the available public transit and flat walkways make for a quick commute from wherever you can find a spot. The first floor and exterior are accessible to most mobility disabilities; and while a very shallow staircase prevents wheeled access to the ramparts, those with limited mobility in their legs should find a fairly easy climb.

Kevin Childs — Google review

They were closing up when we got there but it was still pretty cool. It was a lot like Fort Independence in Boston so a lot cooler if you haven’t seen forts before. The grounds were very nice and people seemed to really enjoy the surrounding area as well. You can walk around the outside for free or get tickets and go in.

Brandon Polley — Google review

What a treasure! The National Park Service has done a fantastic job to maintain and develop this 300+ year old monument to colonization history. Parking on the grounds is really cheap at 2.50 per hour. It took us 3 hours to see and enjoy everything. The admission was 15.00 per person BUT I used my senior pass and got in for free. Well worth the one time charge to visit all 400 national parks. You can get into many restored rooms and listen to the excellent stories from the park rangers.

John Thompson — Google review

If you visit just one place in St. Augustine it has to be Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. The history, the architecture, the location. It's spectacular. There is so much to see in every room and a lot of information to read about the history and the lives of the soldiers, prisoners, settlers, etc. The cannons are a work of art. Just to be around something that has been built in 1500-1600's and is still around is incredible. You can easily spend a couple of hours there. There is also a cute gift shop. There are a lot of volunteers that will gladly answer any questions you might have. I wish we had our kids with us, they would have loved to tour it.

Ella Camaro — Google review

This was a very neat place to visit. It’s huge and there’s lots to do and see here. You can’t come to St. Augustine and skip this attraction. Do be prepared for lots of walking, and big crowds to be around. We weren’t there a single day that there wasn’t a massive crowd. I recommend getting there early in the morning to get in line for tickets.

Amy Justine — Google review

Stopped at this gem on the way back from Orlando. Ended up being my favorite thing on the trip by far.The ambiance of the landmark is spot on. The beautiful, light-blue water coupled with the local Florida wildlife makes for a great sight. In addition to that, the preservation and appreciation for history makes you feel like you’re in the time period. They even fly the Spanish flag - accurate to the period of its founding. The landmark also provides excellent information to truly educate about the fort’s history and founding. You also have quite a bit of freedom to explore; most rooms you can look around and (the best part) you can walk on top of the fortifications.

Noah Dickens — Google review

This place is awesome and great to see where it all started for Central and South America countries and Florida. It is a Federal Monument so Veterans are free along with 4 guests. Parking in Augustine can be a challenge, unless you park in the free public parking garage across the street and it is still within walking distance to everything. It's a tourist area but the shops and restaurants are really good and there are plenty of them. It is a beautiful area!!

Craig's Travels — Google review

A well preserved Spanish fort in St. Augustine, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the US. It's part of the National Park system, and for those with a National Park pass, entry to the inside of the fort is free. Also, access the the area all around the outside of the fort is free to everyone. Scenes of life in the fort is recreated in several areas. Various canons and other equipment/supplies are on display. There is a small gift/souvenir shop (National Parks stamps available) just inside the fort entrance. Great views of the city and waterfront can be seen from all around the upper level of the fort wall. Although there is a paid parking lot on the grounds ($2.50/hour) parking can be a little difficult to find at peak times. This isn't a large fort, so one to two hours is plenty of time to see the whole thing. The spaces are large enough for large camper vans and smaller (class C) RVs. Our 22' van fit within the space markings. There are several small spaces for motorcycles . There are no oversized spaces in this lot, but there is a free parking lot for all sizes of RVs just a few blocks to the west (No overnight camping allowed). Overall, if you are interested in military/colonial historical sites, this fort is definitely a place to visit.

Alan Marshall — Google review

My family had a fun time at Castillo to say it was not a planned trip. It was like getting a fun history lesson of the fort. We spent about 1.5 touring the rooms of the fort (this will vary person to person). I would recommend going on a cool day as we did. In summer I assume it can get hot and the crowds of people.

Cee — Google review

What an amazing piece of history! It is absolutely worth the visit. I recommend bringing the kids to so they can learn some history but also come alone because you can read all the info posted throughput the fort because you realize all this historic time capsule has been through. I am amazed every time I visit this place that it is open to the public and you can walk through such an incredible time capsule.

Wonderful place!A beautifully preserved antique, well-kept and authentic. The love and care of the staff is immediately visible.A very informative exhibition, we walked around for two hours, looked around and read the explanations, just wonderful. It’s good that there are many excursions for schoolchildren, children study real history using real buildings and exhibits, and this is wonderful! You are unlikely to see so many ancient cannons in one place anywhere else.A beautiful bay with Parisian trees and fresh sea air complete the picture.Thank you very much!

This past weekend my boyfriend and I decided to come to st.Augustine for the weekend so I could show him all my favorite places. The Castillo was number one on this list. We both love history, so I knew he’d fall in love with the place as soon as he saw it. I honestly think it exceeded his expectations. He’s already planning for our next trip back! Aside from it being a magnificent pierce of history, it also helped that all of the staff and the rangers at the fort were so kind and helpful, and it really made an impact on him. He was stunned at how informative everyone was and how genuine everyone seemed.. I explained to him that St.Augustine isn’t like all the other “touristy” places. Especially not the Castillo de San Marcos. People here genuinely love this town and it’s structures, and they are excited to show it off to whoever is willing to listen. So thank you so much to everyone at the Castillo for making this trip memorable one for us! We can’t wait to come back!!!

Truly one of a kind. It’s a must-see in St. Augustine! The staff, dedicated volunteers and city have done an excellent job with preserving this jewel and making it fun and educational for all visitors! The view from the top part of the Fort is incredible. This was such an interesting attraction. After leaving this establishment you simply feel closer to history.I’ve visited as a child and now as an adult….and it’s always enjoyable!

I've come here many times since the late 1960's when my father first brought me. I remember having a souvenir Spanish cannon from here as a child and It's always worth the trip. St. Augustine itself is pretty touristy, but it's a pleasant way to spend an afternoon and send yourself back in time to the days of forts, castles, and dangerous adventures. Take your kids so they take away the memory of a lifetime and maybe a Spanish Cannon.

Great historical site that is rather unique. It is $15 for adults while under 16 are free. Military and veterans can get a National Park pass for free with proof; that gets three adult guests in with you also. Nice views of St. Augustine from here. Parking is $2.50 per hour.

An amazing and historical monument in the original and oldest city of Florida. So much depth of history that you need to really take your time enjoying each section. The views are stunning. Park Rangers are very informative. Try visiting on a "cool" day if that's possible! The park also has parking but it's on a first-come first-serve basis. Bring a good pair of walking shoes and water and enjoy!

MannyG33309 — Google review

A truly exceptional monument. The graffiti in the barracks alone are world class social history - Spanish sailors and soldiers, then US, and imprisoned Apaches too! Views are great. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The Firearms display is very well done.

Definitely recommend! Learned a lot out the fort and the history. Self guided tour spent about 2 hours here. Money well spent to help preserve such a national monument. We also bought the national park passport too and got our stamps.

Samantha Brown's Places to Love was spot on with this feature attraction. Make sure to add to your list of things to do. Well kept by the National Parks and Recreation. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. It's very scenic. Park staff is very friendly. Must see if you're in the area. Active and retired military discount. They will register you in the database for Gold Star and military membership to visit ALL National Parks.

Brian Lawson — Google review

Definitely worth the admission especially if you can time it around the cannons being fired. But, there are plenty of historical markers if you just want to walk around it. Also a beautiful place to sit and watch the sailboats or picnic on the large lawn. There is limited parking, but a large paid garage is across the street. They have nice restrooms and a small museum.

Burgess Adventures — Google review

There is a dizzying number of tour options in St. Augustine, and you can quickly part with a ton of $$ because there’s an entry fee for just about everything. The Castillo is one of two historical attractions that I think are a must see** because of its uniqueness and its long history.Built in the 1700s by the Spanish, it is the largest and oldest “concrete” fort in the US, and it is almost entirely intact. It is fascinating to think about the fact that the fort has been utilized by Spanish, British and American military forces over the centuries, reflecting Florida’s unique and varied history. There is a decent self-guided tour inside the fort, and if you’re there at the right time, you can hear “first-hand” accounts from actors dressed as Spanish soldiers. This believe they also fire cannons on Saturdays, but we were there during the week. You can also walk around the outside of the fort and go on top of the fort to see the cannons in place, as well as capture beautiful water views. This is a truly unique glimpse into one facet of history in our country’s oldest (continuously inhabited) city.(**The lighthouse and museum is the other attraction that I would give 5 stars to.)

Angi Semler Welch — Google review

My family loved visiting the fort! The history is great and the exhibits inside are informative. We enjoyed seeing how the soldiers lived (my teenage son especially liked the explanation of the toilet system) 🤣The sights of the water and city from on top the castle walls are neat to see. If you have a chance to hang out, make sure to see the cannon fire demonstration. Parking might be tough if the lot fills up, but it’s not a far walk from the parking garage at the visitor center.

Me and my family went here it was amazing. this is my second time here. We got to bring my parents this time for Arkansas they came to visit so we took them here to the oldest city in the United States of America to see the most prettiest fort and Georgetown Road. We got to see some amazing stuff and learn amazing history about this fort. We also got to watch them fire the Cannons at the ships which was pretty cool. It's amazing what people went through. This place is a a must see if you love history.

Old fort, cool to see they used all natural resources to build it. Go in and out of rooms with all kinds of facts and things ,take your time and read the signs to understand everything that went on there. Climb steps to the top---no elevator watch little kids there is no handrails and the upper walls are low they have signs posted do not sit on walls but there are benches to sit. Price is $14.95 adults kids are less get a coupon book and museums have great discounts

Had family members come to visit us from California, we took them to Saint Augustine—the oldest city of USA. They were so happy to see the fort and to know some history of our country…we got there around 10:00am during the weekday, plenty parking spaces, but saw people were waiting for the spot to park when we got out of the fort, city needs to build more parking spaces. Thanks to the people who manage the monument and keep it nice.

St. Augustine is a charming old town with a plethora of culinary delights. The Castillo de San Marcos is an incredible sight to behold, steeped in history and architectural beauty. One tip I highly recommend is to thoroughly research and plan your visits, ensuring the places you want to explore are open. The castle closes after 5 p.m., so it's essential to schedule your visit accordingly.Visiting during the Christmas season adds an extra layer of magic, as the town is adorned with festive decorations, enhancing the overall experience. Exploring the Castillo de San Marcos during this time truly captures the spirit of the holidays and the rich history of the area. Don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in this fascinating destination!

I loved it. The architecture is beautiful, and as someone coming from Chicago, I’ve never seen this technique before in building with sea shells in the walls. The museum does not take long to be seen but totally worth supporting this location. Staff is very friendly as well.

Fascinating history with great displays. Blistering hot day - just like when we visited Fort Ticonderoga in NY a couple of years ago - we seem to pick 'em for those fort tours! Would have been nice to have a guided tour - was tempted to listen in on the guides for the kids' field trip tours.

The Pirate and Treasure Museum is a fun, family-friendly place to visit that houses an incredible array of pirate artifacts. This museum is located in the city of St. Augustine and has been a favorite with tourists since it relocated to the city from Key West in 2010.

This museum was awesome! Informative, educational and hands on fun. Find the hidden treasure markers throughout the exhibit and claim pirate treasure at the gift shop. Seriously if your gonna spend the money go here and see the cool exhibits that are interactive .

If you’re looking for loads of family fun, I highly recommend the St. Augustine Pirate museum. There are numerous interactive historical puzzles, scavenger hunts, audio stories, and hidden treasure to be discovered! The museum has authentic pirate artifacts ranging from weapons, treasure, tools, flags, clothing, and lots more. The staff is very kid friendly, the museum is throughout a pirate ship so you never lose the feeling of being at sea with your first mate. All in all, great for family fun, my daughter absolutely had a blast, awesome Hollywood pirate display, and they have a lovely gift shop.

J Perlmu — Google review

I accompanied my son and his school on a field trip to this museum. We were assigned a guide who accompanied us throughout the tour, explaining each part of the museum and helping us understand its history. At the end of the tour, there is a gift shop where visitors can purchase souvenirs or other items related to the museum. Overall, the guided tour greatly enriched our experience and provided valuable insights into the museum's exhibits. The availability of a gift shop adds to the convenience and enjoyment of the visit.

This museum was fun, however the below deck experience is not good for those with anxiety or claustrophobia. Other than that it's a cool like adventure. The artifacts are really neat and some the them are so detailed. My daughter is a pirate fanatic and absolutely loved it.

Perfect for all ages. A nice air-conditioned place to learn about the pirates. They offer a treasure hunt game, have lots of activities for all ages, computer games, knot tying, cannon, story rooms to listen to the pirates, helm, and videos. Real artifacts of gold, silver, muskets, swords, cannons, and a real-life 400-year-old treasure chest. Must see and do with the family. The staff were even dressed in costumes. Very well done.

Cori Harper — Google review

We went with four adults and one teenager. All enjoyed it. The artifacts and displays were great. It was absolutely amazing how the displays were truly played into the theme and not just a box to look at. There was so much to see! Some displays were even formed to look like chests and be on theme. The theme was carried out so well. Easily one of the best organized museums and most on theme that I have ever seen. It was great!! There is a free scavenger hunt and the items you find are great. Two of our adults did it and finding the items really added to the experience and made you look at everything. Be sure to do the listening booth, but be aware it may be too scary and gory for kids.

Fun time in a small package! This is a great little museum that can be fun for both adults and children. You really need to take your time to appreciate it.The most impressive "exhibits" where the historic documents, letters, and journals, that were surprisingly legible! Kids will like some of the interactive props scattered around the rooms. Firing the cannons was a hoot!Lovely gift shop, very friendly staff. If you're a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and anything "piratey" , you'll have a good time 😊

The Pirate and Treasure Museum was a lot of fun! The whole family enjoyed it. Take the kids and go see historical artifacts and REAL treasure. I had no idea that pirates were such a large part of St Augustine history! They even have a room dedicated to pirates in film, which was a fun way to end the museum trip. I highly recommend a visit!

It's informative and interactive. We had fun and doing the map treasure activities is nice but the prize need improvement. The price is okay. The place was clean. We went there on week day but its crowded. It's a very popular spot. ... We are happy to see the Jolly Roger and other artifacts. The kids enjoy it. ...

A fun and informative jaunt into the world of pirates. Of course there was exhibits on the most well known pirates, but I also really enjoyed learning information about pirating related to the local area. A huge plus was how comfortable it was on the inside, a nice and cool diversion from the St. Augustine heat. My family lazily made it through in about 30 minutes. All children over 13 pay adult price, which made the price tag for our family of five feel a little expensive for what we got.

Matt Mealey — Google review

We had a wonderful time learning about my favorite pirates and seeing all the cool items on display. The Pirate Historian was the hit of the museum and you would not want to miss him! He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and very personable to everyone. What a fun experience and educational experience. We strongly recommend it for everyone young and old!

Sheran — Google review

If you're looking for a great place to cool off during the heat this is it. It's fun and interactive for everyone (even the kids). We had a blast looking at all of the exhibits. We learned a ton and everyone loved it!

The museum is definitely a must visit if you are in the area. The entire self guided tour is very informative and educational. My 4 year old daughter loved the little treasure hunt. Fyi,if they complete the entire treasure hunt they can get a surprise. Definitely a must see.

Tai Sanders — Google review

Fun museum! Some interesting artifacts to look at and plenty of history to learn of. Enjoyed learning of the lives of Blackbart and Drake, among others. Kids ages 9-15 enjoyed it. They have plenty of interactive exhibits. Like barrels with smells and you try to guess based on the smell what cargo the pirates were carrying! Also my son enjoyed hoisting up the jolly rogers flag! Neat audio drama you can listen to as well and hear pirates sword fighting and hunting for booty. Parents of young ones should beware though. There are some parts that might frighten younger kids. A decapitated, yet talking pirate head is hung high on a noose. Plus a life size, black, gruesome skeletal corpse is in a cage. Overall, we enjoyed it. And the gift shop is worth perusing as well.

Angela Rogers — Google review

As locals that have never stopped by, I'm glad we did! Had a great time reading about the pirate history as well as seeing all the displays and models. Absolutely a must stop by if in town. You can also combine it with the colonial experience next door and highly recommend doing so for a discount!Make sure to get you a little souvenir at the shop as well.

Andy — Google review

I thought this place would be cheesy but it was the opposite. It was so cool and fun and educational. I loved all the artifacts and info about different pirates and how some of the ruins of the ships were discovered. The below deck show was super cool and you felt like you were on a pirate ship. My kids and I just loves this place and I thought it was a reasonable ticket cost. We spent a little more than an hour there and did the scavenger hunt.

Kristina Hernandez — Google review

A swashbuckling good time for all ages! You can choose to partake in a seek and find activity throughout the museum to take home “a piece of pirate treasure” or you can choose to simply walk about. A great variety of genuine artifacts including one of only 3 remaining genuine Jolly Roger flags in existence! You’ll have fun and even learn some things along the way. Well worth the price of admission. One of my favorite museums in the country.

Jennifer Blair — Google review

Visiting the pirate museum was a captivating journey into maritime history. The exhibits were well-curated, bringing the swashbuckling era to life with detailed artifacts and engaging narratives. From interactive displays to impressive replicas, the museum provided an immersive experience for all ages. It's a treasure trove of knowledge for anyone fascinated by pirates and their adventurous tales on the high seas.

Honestly cooler than I thought it would be and worth the price. Not cheesey and packed with real facts and pirate memorabilia. They have real pirate treasure, weapons, flags, and chests. They have some interactive exhibits. The ambience and sfx are enjoyable. Tour guides offer lots of facts and answer questions. Some of them are even descendants of actual pirates back in the day.

Joey FLORIDA — Google review

In addition to exploring the Colonial Quarter, our itinerary included a visit to The Pirate & Treasure Museum--a captivating historical counterpart.Embarking on the guided tour of the museum, we were enthralled by the exhibits and a collection of historic documents, letters, and journals that vividly illustrated the intriguing history of pirates.Every facet of the museum was a delight, and our appreciation extended to every corner. Each exhibit, brimming with artifacts and stories, contributed to our immersive experience, leaving us thoroughly enamored with the rich tapestry of pirate history.

Flagler College is a private liberal arts college located in Ponce de Leon Hotel, which was built in 1888 as a luxury hotel. The architecture was designed by John Carrere and Thomas Hastings, who worked for Henry Morrison Flagler. The college features beautiful grounds and stunning buildings, including the Ponce de Leon Hotel's famed dome and dining room with its 79 Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows.

I toured Flagler College and downtown along with my brother. Architecture of this college is fabulous. Some of the detail is absolutely remarkable. Nice tour available without ever stepping foot on the property. Plenty of photo opportunities. I’d like to see the inside of some of the buildings at some point on a later more in-depth tour.

Michael Mefferd — Google review

Very cool architecture and a great place to snap a photo while in town . I don’t attend the actual college just review based off the architecture outside . Very cool historical place for sure

Ryan Strickland — Google review

What a wonderful atmosphere it is! I really like the architecture of the building.

Abraham Kirkwood — Google review

Explored this college during our trolley tour—it's a Flagler creation from nearly a century ago. 🏛️The architecture is breathtaking, and the Tiffany windows in the dining hall are so intricate that they're insured for a whopping $130 million. 💎The main building features a charming courtyard adorned with beautiful decorations. 🌿✨

Bhushan — Google review

This is a review of the old hotel, not the college. The college does have a good reputation and seems like a great place to go to college. But, as to the facility, you can walk in the lobby and check it out, but best to make a reservation for a tour. Make sure you spend some time in the dining room. It's incredible.

M A J — Google review

Enjoyed the historical tour. Lots of cool history. Great location and story.

Keith Snead — Google review

By far my most favorite tour in the entire city! Our tour guide was a lovely freshman named Leah and we had a very unique tour with cool observations and obscure little nuances of Henry Flager himself. It is a MUST to check out the college as a tourist or maybe a hopeful college student.

Mercedes Anderson — Google review

The Flagler College area is absolutely beautiful. The Spanish architecture is breathtaking. From the terracotta roofs to the red iron gaits and railings, this place is eye candy. Walked around and looked at the various hotels and other various buildings, all the same style and flair. When you tour the downtown Saint Augustine area, venture a little further down to see these sites.

Mark Mefferd (TigerMark44) — Google review

Taking the free architectural tour at Flagler College was absolutely fascinating and beautiful! It was like time traveling back to the Gilded Age where conspicuous luxury and customized environs and decor knew no bounds. Learning the history of the visionary team behind the project and the short amount of time this hotel was completed yielded many surprises for us!

Wind Tree Studios — Google review

Had the special privilege to be on the 2pm tour of Flager College which started its life as the Flagler Hotel. Built to be the Newport of the South, the most incredible thing is all the original Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows. The entire property is jaw droppingly beautiful. Right now only 2 tours a day. One at 10am the other at 2pm. Adult tickets are $15 and worth it.

Tony Suszczynski — Google review

Visited for the afternoon historic tour. This facility is simply stunning. It’s very existence is pivotal to what we now know as modern day Florida. The tour was interesting and hosted by one of the attending college students. While she did get a bit “tour-guidey”, she had some great insight into the main building’s history. The tour itself is just over an hour and takes you into some rooms you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. A small portion of the tour is outdoors, so weather could be a factor. Our tour guide did a fantastic job picking a nice, comfortable, shady spot for our outside stop. If you’re in the area, and looking for brief afternoon activity, then you can’t go wrong with a historic tour of this campus.

Food & Drink

The St. Augustine Distillery is located in a historic ice manufacturing plant that was built in 1917. The distillery offers public tours of the facility and tastings of their spirits, which are made using age-old techniques in two copper pot stills. The distillery has won awards for its New World Gin and Florida Cane Vodka.

This is an absolute must! The staff are very friendly and the drinks are amazing! Not to mention, the self guided tour and samples are free! I’m not a drinker, I am a light weight and I only went here so I could take my husband…. So glad I did! I took the shot samples like a champ and enjoyed the drinks and the experience just as much as my husband did. The gin and tonic mix was the second shot we took and it was delicious!! We bought the gift box to take home! This was the best stop on our St. Augustine trip! Thanks St. A distillery!

Laura W — Google review

Neat place with lots of interesting historical displays and information about their distilling processes with plaques, pictures, and displays. We did a self-guided tour through the distillery which was quite adequate for our time frame and very informative. If we'd had more time we would have called ahead to arrange for an in-person guided tour, which I'm sure would have been excellent. Staff is friendly and very approachable if you have questions; they clearly take pride in their place of work. The various tasting stations are a nice touch and certainly add to the experience. The varieties of bourbon, gin, and rum, as well as the ready-made mixers are delicious. (Suggestion: Eat something beforehand. The samples aren't huge, but they are fairly potent on an empty stomach! 😉)There is also a store which offers for purchase all the various products from the distillery, with a tasting station so you can sample what you're thinking of buying. All very low-key, there is no pushiness to get you to buy anything, they obviously know just how excellent their products are!The restrooms are very clean and roomy and ever so quaint - worth a visit, too!Accessibility is good and there is ample parking around the building.

Susan B — Google review

This was one of our stops on trolley ride. We opted to pick up the next day and not having to walk around with our purchase.Free samples were definitely a treat. No pressure, just sample, and you can come back the next day. ID is required.

One of the top distilleries that I have visited in the US so far. You begin the tour with signing into an iPad, then you start with your tastings of vodkas, gins and bourbons. Upstairs the bartender Nick was very knowledgeable on all of their products and made great suggestions on what to buy based on my likes.

Josh Shaffer — Google review

I recently visited Saint Augustine Distillery and had an amazing time. The highlight of my visit was the free whiskey tasting, which allowed me to sample some of their fantastic products. The employees were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. The staff members at the distillery were not only passionate about their craft but were also well-informed about the various whiskey options available. They were more than happy to answer all my questions, providing me with in-depth information about the production process and the unique characteristics of their spirits. Moreover, the welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the distillery made me feel at ease throughout my visit. The employees created a warm and inviting environment, which added to the overall enjoyment of the tasting experience.I highly recommend visiting Saint Augustine Distillery for any whiskey enthusiast or anyone looking to learn more about the art of distilling. The combination of a free tasting and the expertise of the staff made for an unforgettable visit. I will definitely be returning to explore more of their offerings in the future.

This is a small craft distillery that has only been in operation since 2014. You can do a self guided tour that is free and includes 4 tastings of mixed drinks like a mule. They also offer guided tours for a fee. The advantage of the guided tour is its bourbon forward, you hear the history of the building and the business, and you get to try a pour of two expensive bottles. We have been to 12 other distillery tours and I still learned a few new things. Larry was a fantastic host! We got to sample their flagship bourbon, one finished in a wine barrel, an aged blend, and a single barrel. We also got the keep the glasses! I believe a person in a wheelchair could do this tour because you only move from the tasting room to the adjacent room. We enjoyed our experience!

Stephanie Cotter — Google review

What a great experience this was! The tour is free and self guided so take as long as you'd like. Each area has a tasting station which have samples that they're promoting. All of the samples were great. Even better is that at the end they let you try whatever you'd like that they sell. All of the staff were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their company. A must visit when going to St. Augustine.

Patt Intarakamhang — Google review

I highly recommend the paid tour, it's only 35 dollars. Patrick(?) was our bourbon educator and man did he deliver some incredible information to us. It was a one hour class on information that we should be aware of when it comes down to picking, tasting, and understanding the complexities of what makes up a bourbon. Great job! The class was not rushed and very well paced. We were celebrating my mother's 70th birthday and the team even signed a card for her. Everyone received a glencairn and was thoroughly educated on how to drink from it. In all, a great day to drink bourbon and thanks for making Mom's birthday a whole lot more fun (she was a huge fan of the port finished bourbon).

The St. Augustine Distillery Spirit of Florida Bourbon Experience was Excellent! We went on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail last year and saw some great distilleries but having this quaint and beautiful distillery in our own state of Florida is fantastic. Melody was our host and tour guide and was very knowledgeable about everything Bourbon related especially when it came to the distilling process. We tasted 4 of their different bourbons and enjoyed each one. The "Saint" was our personal favorite because we love old fashioneds so much. Finishing off this bourbon in a barrel of their own old fashioned mix was truly an amazing idea! We bought 2 bottles of Saint, but know that this was not an inexpensive bottle at $200. (we did get a $35 off coupon for the tasting tour). The tour of this small distillery was informative and fun with Melody showing us the complete process. Of course the gift shop was the last stop and we took advantage of more Bourbon tasting with their version of an old fashioned. We had not been to this distillery since they added bourbons and only knew them from their vodka, rum and gin but were VERY pleased they have added these delicious bourbons to their line of spirits. A Wonderful Experience and Must See if you are here in St. Augustine!

Doug Wilson — Google review

A decent distillery in St Augustine. We came to check them out and were really excited to do a tasting and check out their stuff. Someone in our group did the tour years ago and said it was great. This time there was no tour and the tasting was lame. As someone in our group said to the person who said it used to be great "glad I didn't have to pay for it or I'd want my money back"There were a few mixers to try and you could look at their room where they explain how it's made. You don't actually get to taste their stuff and get information about anything worthwhile. If you have little to no experience or expectations for how it's made you might enjoy it, but as we have been to distilleries all over the world there wasn't enough going on to be worth the trip. The staff were super friendly and they have a nice bar upstairs, but you can drink elsewhere for cheaper with a better variety.Still, a decent place.

Joseph Sanchez — Google review

Fun place to visit. Great history and very knowledgeable staff. Great setup and tour. Good drinks at each stop and we had a lot of fun as a small group! Definitely recommend stopping by this distillery! Even if you only drink one type of spirit, try them all, it might surprise you!

My girlfriend is a bourbon drinker and booked this tour on our visit to Saint Augustine. We were immediately met by Clark and once in the private room, he proceeded to provide the experience. He did so with a passion and fervor that I haven't seen in a very long time. He spoke intelligently, factually, answered all the questions perfectly. His knowledge and understanding of the process and his use of facts was super impressive. He made this tour very special, welcoming and kept us interested and engaged the entire time. What an amazing experience and I hope anyone that has a chance to visit gets Clark as the experience guide (as he explained it was a combination of tour, history, and facts - an experience). The gift shop patrons were also very welcoming and friendly. What an amazing experience and Clark, thank you for making this one of the great highlights of our trip.

Nice short tour through the Distillery with tastings. If your over 21 make sure you have your ID with you. Nice rustic building to go through. If I were to go again I would make time to stop at the restaurant to try food and more drinks.

Excellent distillery and a very unique way to conduct a tour. The tasting stations with co*cktails makes it a useful tasting and showcases the products. The gift shop is amazing and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Loved this experience and I’ve toured about 50 distilleries, including most on the famous bourbon trail. Top notch!

Yesterday was my sons 32nd birthday so we made a family trip to the St Augustine Distillery for a Bourbon class and it was amazing. I highly recommend it. So much fun as a family. Clark was so knowledgeable on Bourbon and he was funny as well. We also made our own bottle of Bourbon when the class was over and that was an amazing experience as well. You bottle the bourbon, cork it and label it with your signature and shrink wrap the top. I recommend this experience as a gift or fun family weekend trip.

My husband and I went on a day trip to St. Augustine and visited the distillery for the self guided tour. It was a great experience from start to finish! We enjoyed learning the history of the building and distillery plus ALL the staff was absolutely amazing....very welcoming and knowledgeable. The co*cktail samples were a tasty treat with the mule and old fashion above expectations. We were pleasantly surprised when we were able to partake in an experience guided by Clark with The Saint Bourbon and food pairings. Clark did a great job making the experience entertaining and educational. After the tour and experience, we visited the gift shop and indulged in our favorite co*cktails supplies to enjoy at home!

The coolest tasting and educational experience ever! This was my first introduction to bourbon and woooooweeeee I sure felt it! Sarah was a wonderful educator and very informative about the history and process of distillation. The gift shop at the end of our tour had many great items to purchase! Since our arrival for the tour was early, we decided to have a glass from their bar upstairs. Another cool place in the establishment!

St. Augustine Distillery will NOT disappoint and have a memory to last a lifetime. Larry was fantastic for the tour and tasting and KNOWS his bourbon. Nicholas made my one of a kind single barrel bottle pour SO special and was such a blessing to meet him. He went above and beyond to share his passion for what he does, what goes into making bourbon and both men were fantastic!!!A hidden suggestion: Go to the 4pm booking cause it's the last one of the day and they can spend more time showing you stuff, behind the scenes and won't feel rushed.* My suggestion if you can do it 👍🏼😊Thank you and made a 50th Birthday, bourbon 🥃 lovers day a VERY special one ❤️🙌🏼

Had a great time at our guided tour yesterday. Clark was one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had, not just for a distillery but of any excursion or activity I’ve done. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate which made the tour just that much better. Highly recommend the paid tour for everyone. Highlight of our trip to St. Augustine and my wife and I come here once per year for a weekend for the past 5 years. Oh and all the bourbon we tasted were absolutely amazing. We love to take visitors to the distillery. We brought our guests to the perfect pair tasting experience and had a great experience. Clark, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and very personable. Everyone had a great time. We proceeded to the gift shop for additional tastings and souvenirs, every employee we came in contact with was very knowledgeable and you could tell that they loved their jobs. We really enjoy taking guests here. See you soon!

Such a great experience couldn’t believe it was free! You learn so much about the history and the process of a different alcohols! Everyone was very friendly the free samples you got were tasty even their merchandise shop at the end was great. They had plenty of variety to choose from if you wanted to bring home something for yourself too or as a gift, will definitely be back on my next visit to Saint Augustine.

One of my all time favorite places! You can’t beat the experience. These are very nice, award winning, high quality spirits. The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable. I recommend doing the tasting tour. It’s free and takes 10-minutes tops, but it’s a great way to sample the spirits before committing to a bottle. The Saint is our favorite bourbon and the gin is a close second. Their mixers are absolutely delightful - fresh tasting, low sugar, and wildly versatile - we love the hibiscus and old fashioned. I honestly can’t say enough nice things. Run don’t walk to the best distillery in Florida!

Steph Wood — Google review

Even though the distillery is small the tour and tasting were one of the best we have been to. My daughter and I have done the entire Bourban trail tour in Kentucky and just about completed the craft tour in Kentucky. Also have ties to Bourbon industry in Kentucky. Anyway our guide definitely showed he is a Bourbon Steward also in giving the history of Bourbon and the standards as well as the brief history of distilling in the State of Florida. I will admit they have a good bourbon product as well as a vodka and rum, my daughter and brother liked their gin, gin is not for me. Everyone we met was more than gracious as hosts. When you are in the area highly recommend you take this tour as well as visit the attached restaurant.

The Lightner Museum is a Victorian-era museum that houses a collection of artifacts from everyday life during the Gilded Age. Highlights include furniture, glassware and other objects from the wealthy, as well as collections of decorative and fine arts.

Very interesting place multiple floors of exhibits you can even have lunch in what used to be the indoor swimming pool. Among exhibits are a music room the old steam room and a large thing for water treatments that looks like it came straight out of One flew over the cuckoo's nest Tiffany Glass lots of glassware in general this could go on for days if I actually listed everything that's in this place it's huge. I had enough fun that I joined as a member, I live just over an hour away and plan to make a few trips to see the rest of the museum you can easily spend a day or two very highly recommended.

Wonderful and very educational. Entertaining. Note: the art pieces and sculptures have several in the nude and a couple more inappropriate for some children. Use discretion for the 3rd level - 3R on elevator.Highly recommend! Did not try the food at the bottom where the converted largest indoor pool at the time period. Looked fun although a small area to eat.

we had a wonderful time! Really neat collection of antique items. Along with detailed history. We were really impressed with the beautiful items, the staff and the cleanliness. It's a great choice to make on your vacation. Loved the info about the pool that was huge.

Beautiful grounds to walk and explore. Didn't buy tickets to go in, but just seeing the courtyard and walking the perimeter was nice. Dog friendly outside the museum. Absolutely beautiful views in every direction. Wished I was able to see it all lit up for the night of lights but the weather wasn't in our favor so we skipped seeing it in the evening. Will definitely be back to see it!

Go as early as you can to beat the crowd. Even though the museum had advertised a "mask required" policy, most visitors I saw were unmasked. Plan on staying at least two hours to see the "Picturing a Nation" exhibit and doing a cursory walk-around of the pool. Your ticket is good for all day and if you are an art lover, you could easily be there that long. Bonuses are the gift shop, restaurant and period-perfect restrooms. Docents, ticket takers and gift shop workers are all friendly and approachable. This is quintessential St Augustine and should not be missed.

We loved everything about this museum. It's amazing that it was once an indoor pool, which is where the restaurant shown in one of my photos is now located. The exhibits were very interesting and well-spaced so you can actually see them. We also really liked that we could have lunch inside the museum to avoid having to plan our day around finding someplace else to eat. The food was quite good and the service was excellent.

We had no plans to visit this museum until we saw it in a pamphlet. We were pleasantly surprised with the collection and the building itself. There was almost too much to look at in the collection. The staff throughout the museum was very nice. We enjoyed visiting this location and getting out of the heat!

Amy Justine — Google review

Stopped in, after seeing it on some TV show. It's a rather interesting place to wander around and learn a bit of history about the area. The old desks and bicycles were the coolest part, for me, but I'm also not going to proclaim to be any sort of history buff. Fun way to get out of the heat and simulate your mind.

Saturn View — Google review

Larger than i expected. We breezed through in 30 minutes because we were short of time on the meter but i wish we had left a hour. There's more to see than i had expected and at the time the third floor wasn't even open. Almost kind of a shame it's not still a bathhouse. It looked like a fun place to visit back in the day.

Loved visiting the Lightner Museum. Favorite part was the music room and the crystal room. So beautiful. Very engaging place for kids to visit. Nephews loved the fish pond area. Very nice place to experience in St. Augustine.

This museum is well worth the visit! There are three floors and you can choose to take the elevator or the stairs. There was everything from art, furniture, Tiffany crystal, to a nickelodeon.Everyone was very nice and informative. I took my eighteen year old son and daughter. It took us about two hours and their is parking right behind the entrance. You do have to pay to park. Out of everything my family and I did in Saint Augustine this museum was my favorite!

Highly recommend!! Absolutely beautiful collection. Very unusual antiques. Tiffini glass collection in a room that was stunning. Art work, gorgeous, antique furniture, the building itself is fascinating. Feel free to ask volunteers that are there to assist you. They are so helpful and so kind. They are very informative. We also ate in their café, excellent food. We were looking around for over three hours. Some people take 1 to 2 hours. It just depends on your interest. You do have to pay to park. We used the metered parking $2.50/hr. They have a very nice gift shop as well.

We spent about 2 hours there during our visit on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It was busy, but didn't feel crowded. All the staff we interacted with were pleasant, friendly, and super helpful. I think that really made a difference in the overall experience. The place itself is fascinating - the building, its history, and the exhibits. Mr Lightner was quite the collector! We definitely recommend you stop by when visiting the area.

The Lightner Museum in St. Augustine is nothing short of spectacular! Housed in the former Alcazar Hotel, this cultural gem is a testament to Gilded Age opulence and the vision of its founder, Otto C. Lightner. From the moment you step through the museum’s doors, you’re greeted by a captivating collection of artifacts that span centuries. The museum’s vast and diverse exhibits, ranging from Victorian-era artifacts to mesmerizing stained glass works, offer a fascinating glimpse into the past. The architectural beauty of the museum is equally impressive – the Spanish Renaissance Revival style enhances the overall charm, creating an immersive experience. The exquisite details, elegant courtyards, and historic setting make each visit a journey through time.

Michael Soldate — Google review

We accessed the museum from the Old Town Trolley. We enjoyed many of the stained glass pieces and photographs in the museum. The docents were friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautifully landscaped.

I've been to many museums, large & and small, and I was disappointed with some displays weren't quite what I expected. Also the museum itself is quite small.Overall, it wasn't overly expensive, and parts were fascinating. The glass engine for oneThe Tiffany glass is always worth time. The train had inlaid mother of pearl. You might see when blown up.

This place is magical. It takes you back in time. Shows you wooden objects and various other things. Glassware and statuesque photos of time when it was in the early stages of a state. Recommend if you are in the area. Only a few hours to go through. Unless you read everything then will take longer. Currently even available events of Art Deco.

Elizabeth “Becky Mays” Graves — Google review

A great museum to check out while in St. Augustine. The tours are really helpful for helping you envision how life used to be back when it was Hotel Alcazar. There were knowledgeable guides in each area that were really wonderful, taking the time to chat and tell you the history. It has many great collections as well as ones that are continually changing/ being updated. with different parts of Mr. Lightner's extensive collections that aren't normally shown. Henry Flagler originally built this to be a Hotel for the wealthy around the 1880s. In the 1940s Mr. Lightner bought it and fixed it up as his museum.

Kristin Kosmides — Google review

Beautiful place, the building alone is worth checking out, but they had so many unique items. If you can, reserve a table at the Cafe. Delicious food, and a wonderful experience.

Alex Autrey — Google review

The museum was much larger than expected and held a nice variety of historical, beautiful, and fascinating displays. We especially loved the glass and crystal rooms, the top floor bicycle displays, and the view of the massive pool area. This was a very luxurious retreat in its day. The building itself is fun to meander through and notice the architecture. All of the guides are very helpful, too.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse Maritime Museum is a fascinating collection of artifacts from the history of the lighthouse and its keepers, as well as a look at the many shipwrecks that took place along the coast. The tower itself is stunningly beautiful with amazing views, making it an ideal spot for photo ops.

A must see when visiting St Augustine or the area! It's a short drive from the more central area of the city, which was a great break and gave us a chance to drive over the bridge of lions. We didn't visit the park, only the museum, but the area was lovely. My 9-year-old and I did the full climb to the top of the lighthouse - if you can swing it, do it! There are 8 landings and the windows are open so it's nice and breezy in the right weather going up with time to rest. If there's a line, it'll go quickly - they can only allow so many people in at once so it's most comfortable for everybody. There are cool facts and interactive elements and progress marked on the way up. The entire museum area is awesome, especially loved the shipwreck exhibit and the on-site shipwreck artifacts conservation lab (my son's favorite part!). Lots of great historical facts and displays.

I love lighthouses and this one is the bee’s knee’s. Bought tickets online with a discount. Dog friendly except inside the buildings. 219 steps to the top and worth the admission. Great piece of preserved history and functional architecture. The light is impressive at night and incredible in the day. Beautiful wooded paths on the grounds and they sell pickles and snacks! Gift shop has excellent selection and prices.

Your thighs will burn going up the stairs but it is was beautiful! Full of history and gorgeous views! Highly recommend bringing water if there during the summer! The staff were all very friendly and the bonus was that they are pet friendly!! Dogs are welcome, just not in the lighthouse itself.

Tiffany Lester — Google review

Great museum and well thought out. Signage was cool and informative on the way up the tower. Loved the cat story! The facilities were expansive with lots to do. I'd love to spend a whole day here sometime... But it is easy enough to breeze through casually in under an hour if you need to.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse was absolutely amazing. My sister and I went here with our family for our birthday. Everyone we talked to who worked there was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The lighthouse was beautiful and such a cool experience. We also enjoyed visiting the lighthouse keepers' houses and grounds and seeing what life was like for the lighthouse keeper and his family in the 1800s. When we got to the top, the view was absolutely amazing. The volunteer at the top, John offered to take our picture and encouraged us to come back up an hour later to see the sunset from the top of the lighthouse, which was beautiful. He walked with us back down the lighthouse, chatting with us the whole way and even wished my sister and I a happy birthday. All of the volunteers/employees were also very friendly.

Gabrielle Taylor — Google review

Beautiful day to go to the Lighthouse. My 3 children and I had a good time climbing to the top. My youngest tried to race everyone lol. The staff are knowledgeable and will answer questions. It's supposedly haunted and I'd love to come back at night for a tour. The view from the top is amazing. The steps are worth it. There are landings for those who need to catch their breath or slow down. Highly recommend.

Any absolute delight. Has History, souvenirs, antiques, archeology and more. More than a museum. Don't be intimidated if you have mobility handicaps. Staff is wonderful to make doable suggestions to make those with canes or walkers welcome and comfortable even if climbing stairs is physical limited. Restrooms available in several convenient locations. Many kid friendly things including pirate ship playground, outdoor play area with games and a trail that promotes hands on learning. Climb to the top of the lighthouse or enjoy the view from a comfy seat. Be sure to appreciate the landscaping and Florida foliage as well as the lighthouse keepers garden. The Tin Pickle is the stop for a hotdog, muffin, brownie, soda or a cold beer. We watched men building boats on site. We watched and archaeologist work on items retrieved from ocean dives. Be sure and hike the trail that goes behind the lighthouse. See the lush native plants. Enjoy the huge trees covered in Spanish Moss. Well worth the money and wonderful history lesson for kids of all ages. Staff is beyond helpful and kind.

Debbie Bowles — Google review

Had such a great visit! The lighthouse is so well taken care or we climbed all the way to the top! Its quite a climb but worth it and there are many spots to sit for a break on the way up.. the views are absolutely immaculate and all of the additional exhibits and mini museums were awesome!

Zinnia Torres — Google review

$30 bucks get you access to the lighthouse and the museum on property. Cool history and a 160+ stair climb to the top of the lighthouse that will give you a workout. Don’t forget to stop at each open window as you climb for a cool constant breeze to stay cool. They sell cheap bottles of ice cold water so may be advisable to grab a bottle (or two) to stay hydrated in the Saint Augustine humidity. The view at the top is just breathtaking!

Amazing evening in st. Augustine's lighthouse ghost tour. If you're into ghost tales of events that happened of a housekeeper lighthouse Inn. It's an amazing 2-hour tour on the historic ground at the existing lighthouse that is still in use today. Off the shores of Florida on the Atlantic coast is a lighthouse that has been used since the 1800's. The tours are guided for 2 hours. It is all outside so be prepared to still be hot and deal with mosquitoes. You can walk to the top of the lighthouse. It is dark until you get closer to the top with a light that will come on. It's 219 stairs to the top. But the view of the whole tour is well worth it.

Joshua Edwards — Google review

Great historic lighthouse and surrounding campus with plenty of period hardware and historical information. The 219 steps are on a spiral staircase that has eight landings with windows and/or factory boards so you can rest while learning or enjoying the view. The lighthouse and the rest of the buildings/grounds are in excellent condition. The outside observation deck, just below the light housing, is the highest level you can go and you can see for miles, looking down on St. Augustine. It is cheaper to buy tickets online using codes from various sources and there is a senior discount rate. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, completing the package for a must-see attraction for history/lighthouse buffs.

Alan Marshall — Google review

Overall, pretty good experience. This place does get crowded, though, (especially with children!) but that’s to be expected of any attraction in Florida. The actual lighthouse has a pretty long line because of the crowd, but it didn’t take long. View was good. Got good pictures. Good piece of history.

Carson Melton — Google review

This was a great experience. The climb to the top is challenging but many stops along the way to either rest or allow others to pass. View from the top is beautiful! Keepers building was interesting and there were some men actually building wooden boats. Nature trails were fun too!

Linda Richards — Google review

The place is great, a really wonderful experience. There is a height limitation for children, so if you have small ones, bring another adult so you can take turns going up the lighthouse. It's a really beautiful and well kept place that offers a lot to see. The water is walking distance away and is beautiful in and of itself. Really enjoyed the experience with my family. I look forward to going again soon. The experience will also be nicer when my daughter can go up the steps.

Adam Bucalo — Google review

This was a lovely impromptu stop! The views from the top were gorgeous and expansive and the climb up (although nearly 219 steps) was very manageable due to the benches you can sit on the way up and how well made the stairs are. The building has just been recently renovated and it looks amazing! Each of the exhibits in the separate side buildings were also meticulously maintained and informative. We spoke with several staff members who were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall an incredible place to visit and affordable! Come support historical St. Augustine

Heather Woods — Google review

A fun, unique experience. Nice views from the top obviously. Be aware if you have kids that for safety reasons there is a height requirement to go up and you aren’t allowed to carry anyone up (or down). There are some unique trails around the property as well including a maritime hammock to explore. There’s also a pirate ship playground for little kids who can’t go up.

Bobby Kaye — Google review

I think I did this review on my phone and am now editing because I didn't give quite enough detail. The lighthouse itself is fantastic to see and we've been here a few times. You have to have purpose to make the climb, though, LOL! The breeze, and view, at the top make it worth it. My husband always has a bit of a height thing when he climbs. But the staff we encountered while we were there were fantastic! One of the fountains was broken, and it was a very hot day, and I was looking for a place to re-fill my water bottle. The lady that was standing at the entrance to the lighthouse did not know one was broken, and made sure I knew where the closest functioning fountain was. We were sure glad to find it since it was July in the hot south!

A Beacon of History and Wonder: St. Augustine LighthouseNestled on the picturesque shores of St. Augustine, the St. Augustine Lighthouse stands as a timeless sentinel of history, guiding generations through the annals of time. I had the pleasure of visiting this magnificent structure just last week, and the experience left me in awe of its rich history and undeniable charm.A Glimpse into HistoryThe St. Augustine Lighthouse is more than a towering beacon; it is a living testament to the past. Stepping onto its hallowed grounds, I was transported back in time. The lighthouse, with its distinctive black and white stripes, has a history that spans over 140 years. It has witnessed the ebb and flow of time, bearing witness to countless stories of sailors and seafarers who depended on its light to navigate treacherous waters. As I explored the meticulously preserved keeper's house and surrounding grounds, I was enveloped in a sense of nostalgia. Each step I took felt like a journey through history. The exhibits within the museum provided a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the keepers who tended to this vital beacon, often braving the harshest of conditions to ensure the safety of others. The Ascent: A Journey to RememberThe highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the climb to the top of the lighthouse. With each step up the spiral staircase, I felt a growing sense of anticipation. And when I finally reached the observation deck, the view that greeted me was nothing short of breathtaking. The panoramic vista of St. Augustine, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Matanzas River stretched before me like a canvas of natural wonder. From this vantage point, I couldn't help but reflect on the generations of mariners who had relied on this lighthouse to guide them safely home. It was a humbling experience to stand where they once stood and appreciate the significance of this towering icon.A Lasting ImpressionMy visit to the St. Augustine Lighthouse was not just a journey through history but a memorable encounter with the enduring spirit of exploration and discovery. The lighthouse and its surroundings are a testament to the dedication of those who have worked tirelessly to preserve this treasure for future generations. As I reluctantly descended the staircase and bid farewell to this historic gem, I left with a profound sense of gratitude for the opportunity to experience such a remarkable piece of history. The St. Augustine Lighthouse is more than a tourist attraction; it is a living embodiment of the past, a beacon of light that continues to inspire and captivate all who have the privilege of visiting. If you find yourself in St. Augustine, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this iconic landmark. Prepare to be transported through time, to stand in the footsteps of keepers and mariners, and to witness a breathtaking view that will linger in your memory for years to come. The St. Augustine Lighthouse is not just a destination; it's an unforgettable journey into the heart of history itself.

A great place to visit while in St. Augustine. Around $15 admission for adults. Children under 12 and seniors slightly cheaper. Lots of historical material to read and watch. Lighthouse views from the top are well worth it.We spent over an hour here on a Monday afternoon. There were a lot of parking spots but not too many left. We purchased tickets inside and traveled the grounds. Several smaller buildings and the lighthouse provided lots of interesting information. 219 spiraling cast iron steps to the top can be challenging for some. Landings along the way for those who may need it.Recommended for those who enjoy history.

David Todd — Google review

This is a beautiful and well done park and museum! Driving in at night was a little spooky due to the lack of street lights but GPS did a great job and took us right into the parking area. That lack of street lights was very apropos, making the illuminated lighthouse itself more starkly juxtaposed against the dark sky and surrounding area. The front porch of the museum was a relaxing place with nice Christmas decorations.

Wind Tree Studios — Google review

Beautiful grounds, friendly and dedicated staff. The evening sunset tour was breathtaking. The climb up the many stairs was nicely broken up by different exhibits in various levels. The view from the top was spectacular and it was nice that they allow as much time as you want once up top. Our tour guide shared plenty of stories of the light house’s history….and also provided us with some of the ghostly tales associated with the place! (I was disappointed that I missed the ghost tour a day earlier and our guide was so kind and accommodating). I can’t say enough about this lovely pace and it’s awesome employees!

I visited back in January and climbed twice! I was the first one up for the day I went, I arrived pretty early but I was really excited. The staff was there to help guide me. The climb was really nice, with large landings with informational signs.Since I got there really early, I enjoyed the quiet exploring of the other buildings on the property. I love history but have a hard time focusing if there is a lot of background noise from other visitors. That's why I go to places right when they open!Overall, I had a great time and I'd come back to climb the lighthouse again!

This is a very cool location and well worth the admission fee. We were running late during our visit so we plan to go back during another visit. This time, we wanted to be sure to see the actual lighthouse.I decided to conquer my fear of heights today so I went to the top. I must say it was worth the climb. The staff was VERY friendly and I especially enjoyed speaking with the nice lady at the top today. She was very knowledgable and kept me occupied while I was stressing over the height of the lighthouse. The gift shop had a nice selection of relevant and interesting gifts.I’m trying to cut back on the five star reviews but we highly recommend this attraction!!

Richard Love — Google review

I didn't visit St. Augustine expecting to conquer one of my greatest fears. I'm extremely fearful of heights, but visiting the lighthouse and all its splendor was on my list of things to complete in St. Augustine. I don't know what I was thinking, walking in. I guess I expected to visit a closed off lighthouse or maybe walk a few steps and complete another historical bucket list. But no, the lighthouse in its glory, standing tall and proud, shared its soul with me. It really is a sight to behold and take in. I was able to reach the top and rotate the walkway, thanks to the help of an amazing staff member and my lovely boyfriend, who was the catalyst for me even wanting to go to the top. He never once lost patience with me and held my tightly gripped hand with enthusiasm and love. I never caught the worker's name from today but bless his heart as well. This man went above to help me through my fears. I'm sure he's had experience with this sort of situation because he was amazing at keeping me focused. I'm thankful for such a beautiful experience to share on my 3 year anniversary with my boyfriend, and to the experience, for allowing me to keep growing as a person. This museum is well worth the visit, don't hesitate!!

Miki Albatou — Google review

Wonderful experience! We paid the fee to go to the top and it was well worth to climb the 219 steps. Outstanding views! Beautiful lighthouse! Staff were friendly. Restroom was as to be expected. Reasonable prices in the gift shop. Will definitely return!

It’s so amazing how this place has evolved through the years. 1) if you are a Light House junkie… this is one of the more easy light houses to climb. There are landings to rest on multiple leveled. 2) I live they have their own building for gift shop and a solely made the LightHouse Keepers house the museum. 3) staff is super friendly and helpful. 4) love the added outbuildings and exhibits. My aunt got married at the light house 30 years ago. I have come to visit it several times since I was 12 and now I’m almost 40. I love seeing how it’s been maintained and grown into the historic venue it is.

My family and I went and visited the lighthouse on Thursday. We had a wonderful time. The property is so lovely and well kept. And the view is spectacular. We were very lucky to have a wonderful employee named John offer to take a family picture of us in front of the lighthouse. He definitely knew what he was doing and took a beautiful family picture of us. Would highly recommend adding the St. Augustine lighthouse to your list of places to visit.

Caitlin Rodgers — Google review

It was a wonderful experience atop the light house. One has to climb up more than 200 stairs but the view from up there is worth it.We went there on a Thursday and the place had a decent amount of crowd. It has multiple museums mentioning the history of the lighthouse, US Coast guard and shrimp industry. You have lots of places to take good photos from and they also have a gift shop. They have kids play areas, and also good places. There's something for everyone. Entry is relatively cheap too!Do visit here if you are in St Augustine!

Great experience. 219 steps to climb - it’s doable if you’re relatively fit and healthy. The views are worth it! The gift shop has cute souvenirs.

Fort Matanzas National Monument is an 18th century stone fort constructed by the Spanish on a salt marsh. The monument offers visitors an opportunity to take a boat ride to the fort and enjoy nature walks where they can observe numerous bird species. Visitors can learn about the area's biology from friendly rangers who possess extensive knowledge of the region. For anyone in the region or locals who have not yet visited, it is highly recommended that they explore this beautiful reserve.

Great visit to the Fort Matanzas National Monument! Make sure you arrive early to receive the boat ticket. They have a great nature walk where you will see many types of birds. The ranger on our tour was very friendly and had lots of knowledge about the area biology! After the boat ride to the fort they had a very nice volunteer worker that was doing a nature walk tour which was great we saw many birds including some Roseate spoonbill! I highly recommend anyone visiting the area or any locals who have never been check it out!

Tyler V — Google review

The actual Fort is accessible only via the Ft. Matanzas Ferry, and under guidance of a park ranger. It is off limits to kayaker and others who happen to be out and enjoying the area. There is no entrance fee, however, and the ferry ride is free. Best to arrive early, as ferry tickets go fast. Under the current pandemic guidelines, ferry capacity is reduced.I think everyone would enjoy a visit here. Tip: watch for sea turtles and other aquatic life while you're out there.

Mike Masters — Google review

Great piece of history and a hidden gem. Entrance is free but you need to arrive before 11am or there won't be any tickets available for the ferry ride to get to the fort. Parking is also limited so you will more than likely ride around waiting for a spot or park down A1A and walk to the park. Definitely worth the wait and walk, was a great experience for the kids.

Jane Doe — Google review

I've always loved coming here. One of my favorite places in St. Augustine and a good little hidden gem. Tickets are free and include a beautiful ferry ride to the island. The fort is smaller than Castillo de San Marcos but somehow feels like it has more charm. There is a trail you can walk after. Remember to wear sunscreen and pack a water bottle!

Kiki B — Google review

The grounds at this park were nice. It is a well maintained facility with clean bathrooms. I only gave it three stars because I missed the main attraction of this park....the fort. If I ever get back here I will update my review. They have six ferries that leave out every hour beginning at 9:30 and I think they may fill up fast. We got there at 3:20 on Saturday afternoon and the last boat was full...bummer. But there is a a nice little hiking trail. Oh, and they have vending machines. If your in the area and can get to the fort it's probably worth a visit.

Jeremy Jacobs — Google review

Very friendly staff, knowledgeable, and willing to help you , find your way. Show up early to get tickets for the boat ride across. This will ensure that you could go at the time you want. This boat ride is free. The whole park is free. And the tour is free. How amazing is that in today's time. Take your time to have a nice walking trail.

Timothy Thrasher — Google review

Last ferry leaves out at 3:30, I'd suggest getting there early to get free passes bc they run out quickly and space is limited. There's a nice nature trail that will take about 30-45 minutes to walk before or after your tour. And btw, no pets are allowed on the tour/ferry.

Robin Wheatcraft — Google review

What a great stop. Age 15 and under are free. $14.95 for those 16+. Lots to do to spend an afternoon walking around. Cannot imagine having to man this fort in August back in the days of use. It was an amazing site to see.

Tammra Schiller — Google review

What a great adventure. Everything was great. From the boat ride to the fort itself, it was so nice and well maintained. And to top it off, Ranger Caroline was just superb. She gave a great presentation with lots of facts and knowledge and did so in an exemplary storytelling fashion. Very entertaining and informative.

David Looney — Google review

This is my third time visiting. I brought my daughters and in-laws for a fun family outing. We saw all kinds of wildlife. People often do not realize that you can go down to the water where the boat docks while you wait. Fun, free, and educational. And afterwards you can drive across the street and check out the beautiful beach.

CeCe Cata — Google review

The grounds are nice, but I made a HUGE mistake. I didn't realize that I should get ferry tickets in advance, or at least be there early enough to get a (free) ferry ticket. When I got there the all ferry rides were full.I did mark this as five stars and DO plan to return with advance tickets in hand, because the park I was able to see was very welcoming and the Ranger was helpful and did not make fun of my faux pas!

Selena Nederhoff — Google review

My favorite beach! Fishing is fantastic here. Caught a huge red in October and March. Good place to go to see the sunset!

Steelerzgirl333 — Google review

Short quick tour. Boat ride across the river to see and learn about the fort and get some cool pictures. First tour leaves at 9:30am. Fun for something quick to do if your staying near by.

EC360 VIEW — Google review

This is a great fun little side trip if you’re spending the day in the area, even little kids will find some interesting things to see and do. The fort itself is small and they give you about a half an hour or so to check it out, lots of authentic gear there as well. The ferry you have to book in advance, it can fill up quick on the weekends and holidays. It’s a short, maybe five minute ride across the river to the fort. The rangers are enthusiastic, friendly, and filled with knowledge per usual, all in all it was a great way to kill an hour or two. There is a small winding shady walking trail next to the parking lot, which leads out to A1AA1A, where you can cross over to the beach.

Dave Witt — Google review

The Fort is free and is reached by an equally free ferry provided by park rangers. The whole thing is just over an hour, but a great use if that time. The 500 yard crossing is very attractive and can have a wealth of bird life on view, including ospreys. I loved the atmosphere of the little Fort. Note that it is first come first served. Ferries go on the half hour and if you are not ticketed by 20 past, expect it to be full. There is nothing to do for the hour if you miss the ferry except go to the nearby very exposed beach. There are a visitor centre (more a little bookshop really)and rest rooms though.

This free tour was so informative and so much fun. We arrived at 10:10 and got tickets for the 10:30 tour. You are able to talk down to the water while you wait on the boat. Our national park guides were so lovely. The fort is beautiful and the boat ride to and from were good.

Zharia Lennear — Google review

Beautiful and historic free park - really friendly, helpful staff and knowledgeable rangers! The short boat ride and tour of the fort are quick, so don’t worry if you don’t have a whole day to spend here - you could do it all in under 2 hours. There’s also a short nature trail to Matanzas Inlet - another free, cool spot nearby. We also saw some dolphins and typical cool Florida birds. Oh, and a lot of jellyfish actually.Tip: get your tickets early even if you want to do to the tour later - it’s not uncommon for all tickets to be given out by the middle of the day.Great time - we’ll be back.

2024-03-23: Fort Matanzas National Monument is a well-kept piece of history. The fort was built in 1742 by the Spanish to protect against enemies from using Matanzas River to enter St. Augustine. The fort contains relics, cannons, and the Spanish flag is flown. The National Park Service ferries people via pontoon boat to the fort for a guided tour. Be sure to get tickets early due to limited capacity. Trips are hourly from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather-permitting.

Loved it! We didn't realize the ferry goes only once per hour on the :30, so we showed up 5 mins before. We went to the office and they only had 1 ticket left. So, we were bunmed and walked toward the water, and the ranger there asked his buddy in the boat if there was room for 2 more. He said yes!!! Thanks, Rangers!Ferry ride was 5 mins, and the fort, though small, was really cool! If you're physically able, I'd suggest climbing up the ladder and going on the top of the fort. Nice views and fun! It's a 45-min round trip excursion and I thought it was great!

Alyssa Allen — Google review

It is free and pretty nice. A short safety before gettong on the boat is given. Then off you go. The 5 minutes ride is smooth and when I went it was a beautiful day. There were dolphibs but I didnt get to see them. The fort is small and when we got there a short history talk was given. We had abput 10-15 mins to explore and gwt up to the watchtower. It was a extremely short time and felt rushed but that may be because they are trying to preserve the structure.

Nilsa Rivera — Google review

Cute but short stop for a fort. Fort is accessed by a ferry which is free and ran by the National Parks. It was running every 30 minutes when we visited in Oct. We did not go out to the fort due to time constraints but I'm happy we stopped. Small gift shop on site and restrooms are near the parking lot. Lots of outdoor space including picnic tables and some trails to explore, one trail was closed during our visit due to construction. Birds were around and even saw a turtle. Mosquitos are everywhere too, bring bug spray.

PNW Nikki — Google review

Pros:*Free entrance*Kid-friendly*Free ferry ride to the watchtower*Excellent, free guided tour(great humor and really helped us to immerse ourselves in the time period)*Not too long! The ferry ride is about 5 minutes. The tour of the watchtower was about 45 min.*Excellent photo ops with cannons*A dolphin was spotted!*Several birds were pointed out(blue hering, osprey, pelican)*Jellyfish were spotted during the ferry ride.*Junior Ranger program earned my kids a fun badge with the fort's name on it. Just ask, and they will provide your kids with a free book/pencil to complete the assignment to earn the badge. It was a fun activity for them to complete on the ferry ride there and back.Cons: Ferry tickets are free, but they are first come, first serve and only available in person(not available online or over the phone). We came yesterday, but all of the times were full. So we came first thing this morning and had our pick. If you come from out of state to see this, make sure you arrive when they open to secure a ticket. You can bring an umbrella if it rains.Thank you to all who provided a wonderful experience for our family!

The fort is very small and the ferry ride is very short over to the fort. The visitor center is also very small. They have nice restrooms near the parking lot and huge beautiful old oak trees and a picnic area. There is no grounds to explore around the fort. You have about 45 minutes to see the fort and can take the ladder to the top to see the roof but it’s a very narrow opening at the top of the later. Must be able to navigate the tight opening. We had a 5’10” ish 190lb 65 year old grandpa with us and he was barely able to get down the ladder. The rest of the fort is accessible to everyone by stairs. There is a small beach area you can explore but full of oyster beds so are only able to explore the shoreline.

Kelly — Google review

Our little guy loved the splash pad! We went on a weekday so it was not super busy, but I imagine this place does get a lot of foot traffic. The beach access is convenient, they have family restrooms, outdoor showers and free parking.

Grace Mairose — Google review

FREE ENTRY.FREE FERRY RIDE.This monument is very cool. You get to go on a ferry ride across the way to the monument. Our guide, Caroline, did an amazing job explaining the history and relevance. We saw dolphins and other wildlife on our way over. Definitely kid friendly. Not wheel chair friendly. Steep stairs and ladders.Definitely climb to the top, up the ladder, and look out. It’s amazing something built in the 1700s is still standing today.

Princess Place Preserve is a vast 2,200-acre land situated along the river banks. This historical location boasts of a 19th-century lodge and the first artesian fed in-ground swimming pool in Florida. It is an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts with its numerous hiking, biking, and equestrian trails that offer breathtaking scenery. The park also features several areas for camping, BBQs, fishing spots and facilities to host events throughout the year.

Beautiful preserve land! Great place to enjoy nature. It's also a historical location with the first artesian fed in ground swimming pool in Florida. It has many nature trails to bike or walk. Areas to camp and have a BBQ. Many places to fish. I highly recommend a visit to Princess Place!

Tyler V — Google review

Very cool and more important not so crowded place to camp, kayak and hike. Eagles nesting, many water birds and east deer grazing are among the things to observe. Several very roomy camping spots along the Mantanzas river private and away from boating due to various small islands and shallow waters. Highly recommend for long weekend getaways!

Dave Witt — Google review

Great quiet location on the water. Lots of relaxing walking trails. I stayed in one of three full furnished two bedroom cabins. The cabins have fully equipped kitchens, screened porch, and private access to the river.

David Overstreet — Google review

This is a lovely county park with so much to do! There's picnicking and grilling, camping, big empty fields where you can do Frisbee or tag football or whatever you want to bring. There's a historic residence and the state's first swimming pool. Canoe and kayak launches and places to fish. LOTS of hiking trails. The smaller ones were all loops that led to the same area, so you could do a 1.5 mile loop, then walk over to the next one and do another mile, and choose from 3 others of similar size. It's not like being on a 5 mile trail and realizing halfway through that you don't want to do it more but you have to walk all the way back anyways. That said, there were much longer hikes to the West for those who want a more substantial hike. There's no entrance fee to this county park.... But it also has underwhelming in bathrooms that were out of toilet paper. All things considered, though, this is definitely a place to visit many many times.

I frequent the princess place at least 1 a month because I love nature and the scenery but i enjoyed myself at the Native American festival!!!it was my first time attending the festival and I had a blast!!! I really recommend coming to experience this festival in the future to educate yourself and have fun, you won't regret it.

Great space with plenty of shade, pit, picnic table, nice and level primitive tent only spot Moody 4 well worth it. Breathtaking sunrise view. Friendly and knowledgeable park staff, easy. Check in. Fishing and kayak launch right on the spot!

One of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the entire state. The tour was very interesting and all of this is free! You must visit here. I am excited to go back and camp or rent one of the cottages.

A nice place to get-away. Got a cottage for a couple of days. Check in was easy, even though it was after hours. Great location, I can see the water off the back porch, which is enclosed. Cottage is very nice, has all the necessities. You just need to bring food, drink and spices. Cottage has a water cooler! Peaceful, relaxing getaway.

John W — Google review

Absolutely stunning location. Plenty of trails for bikes and horses. The covered bridge is definitely an attraction to see, and the fishing there is good too. Would definitely recommend a visit.

What a beautiful and wonderful place to relax and enjoy the wonders of nature! The campsites along Pellicer Creek are well maintained with great views of the water and sky. Lots of great birds to look at and wonderful fishing opportunities as well.

Absolutely beautiful park. I plan to go back either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for the free tour of the estate house. So much to do here.

Friends and I attended the Native American Festival at Princess Place today. Beautiful event in a stunning setting. The knowledge we've lost--or at least have pushed aside--from these cultures that show great respect for nature is a sad state of affairs.

Barbara Brunner — Google review

Beautiful park, but lack of enforcement and poor, driving people speeding in and out of the place. Bathrooms were messy and not kept up.

Rich Murphy — Google review

This is an excellent preserve. The hiking trails are very scenic and enjoyable. There are multiple trails of varying lengths, some are fairly short and others are long. Everything is well-maintained. It is also a cool place to see historical and architectural relics.

Nicole — Google review

If you appreciate history and architecture you would enjoy it. This is a great place for hiking and riding your horses. The grounds are taken care of extremely well. We truly enjoyed it.

Betty Cromeenes — Google review

It is a peaceful walk on the trails. A nice place for you and your pup to be Together in nature. my doggie and I walked around for 4 hours! It was a nice get away right in our back yard. There are cottages to rent too! And kayaking!

Julia Salvucci — Google review

2023-08-02: I visited this place late afternoon. It was very hot and humid, and I think there would be more wildlife to photograph early in the morning. There are rocking chairs on the back deck of the estate with a beautiful view of Pellicer Creek. There are nice trails you can drive your vehicle. There are a few muddy areas, and I'm sure after a rain it could be even more muddy.

Park

Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is a well-maintained park that offers various outdoor activities such as hiking and biking paths. Its beautiful gardens and live oak trees provide visitors with plenty of opportunities for photography, while the picnic area is known for its beach and sightings of dolphins. The park also features a rose garden, ponds and streams, a large play area for kids, volleyball nets, picnic tables, restrooms and even a wedding altar available for reservations.

We loved walking around the grounds! We found this looking to kill some time before our Fort Matanzas tour. Only $5 for a day pass, so we came back later in the day to see the rest.Beautiful rose garden, a plant sale in the morning, lovely little pond, huge beautiful old trees, butterflies and flowers. Gift shop has AC and cute locally made items.Take water and a fan and bug spray if you do the walking trail. It starts out shady but you lose all cover as you get closer to the shore, and it got HOT! We did the bottom loop and came back along the old highway. Saw a lot of wildlife.

Sally Clinebelle — Google review

This is a much smaller state park than most I've visited. Grounds are nice...the gazebo and huge oaks especially. Water features needed some upkeep though; foamy, green algae and stagnant water smell/think pond water (off-putting, but not terrible). Keep in mind, it is Florida and high temperatures and high humidity makes it hard to keep up with the algae! The little bridges throughout the park had some loose boards also. Lots of benches to stop and rest on. Restrooms available also. Good amount of parking and a small gift shop. Drinks and small snacks available in the gift shop at very reasonable prices (name brand canned sodas just under $1 each!). I do highly recommend crossing over A1A and visit the beach side of the state park. The $5 entrance fee covers both sides of the state park. Nice parking area, about 20 spots, with two port-a-potty "restrooms". The beach is made up of sand and crushed seashell. Very clean. The infamous rocks are a short distance from the beach access point. The rock formations are extremely fascinating. Pretty unique for Florida, not something you see on most beaches throughout the state. Makes for interesting and beautiful landscape pictures or wedding/maternity/engagement/spiritual (as in, capturing the essence of you and nature). I really enjoyed the rocks. Swimming isn't recommended there; submerged rocks and no lifeguards. Better to just go north a little to an actual beach. So, in my opinion, I wouldn't travel a long distance just to visit the gardens and rocks. It would be better as a stop on the way back, or through, during your main trip.

Michelle Coile — Google review

Very beautiful garden and walk that I wish I could've seen the rest of. The staff however is 50/50 with their cordiality as one ranger in particular pestered us for being misguided by confusing directions we were given to see the Cocina rocks and instead happened upon an employees only area without realizing.

Adam Kenski — Google review

Amazing, peaceful, scenic and recharges the spirit! A gorgeous park! I love going here. Definitely recommend walking the park trails - it feels like you are in the jungle! So many photo op spots and a lot of room so it doesn't feel to touristy. They have clean outhouses too. The gazebo is a must stop for photos and to listen to the water fountains.

Lorraine Toth (Pinupmakeover) — Google review

Five stars just because of 2 main attractions, Beach and Sighting Dolphins at the picnic area. Rest Park is well maintained, have Rose garden and lot of Oak trees ready to cuddle you in their shades.Whole bunch of photography spots. They do have Wedding altar and allow reservations for photography too.Quite enjoyable experience watching fishes in the little ponds n streams of water. They sell flowers and other plants too from their greenhouse.Have large playarea for kids, Volleyball nets, picnic tables, restrooms etc amenities.

Pramod Verma — Google review

This place is absolutely gorgeous. Truly a beautiful place where you can explore, run, relax, fish, take the kids for a stroll, have a picnic, or even a wedding! There was a beautiful small ceremony taking place there when I visited with my two little ones today. Facilities and grounds are beautifully maintained. Grounds overall are wheelchair and double stroller accessible, there is ample seating throughout the grounds, comfortable naturally shaded areas to picnic, pristine waters where a few people were fishing. This is truly a great visit and worth the time! It's beautiful background makes it perfect for both a romantic date or happy family picnic. 10/10 recommend! Admission includes the beautiful beach across the street and is only a flat $5. Definitely will be returning!

Ashley Ramos-Duffy — Google review

Beautiful place to spend some time hiking or enjoying the gardens. However, the beach of the park was closed due to the aftermath of the recent hurricane. Additionally, some trails appeared to be a bit overgrown, presumably as a result of the same hurricane.Despite these minor inconveniences, overall, it was a very pleasant experience

Ilya N — Google review

It's always interesting to learn about and see history. This park and it's beautiful gardens are very pleasant and interesting to walk through. Worth the visit just to see the wonderful oak trees!

Edward Prosienski — Google review

What a beautiful State Park. Lots of big huge Oak Trees. A garden. I will admit it was a bit hot and I probably will go back when it cools down a little bit but what a beautiful place to go. Across the street was the ocean and the other side was the hiking. The hike was about 1.7 miles

Linda Maloney — Google review

This is NOT a swimming park. There is two entrances. The one to the right takes you to the beautiful rock covered ocean front. The sand is EXTREMELY shell pieces covered. You will want some sort of footwear to even walk down the beach. The rocks are not slippery for the most part but the waves can get very large and dangerous and there are lots of holes in the rocks. My 8 year old was able to navigate it easily by himself but several other kids there got too close and got banged up by rocks. The left entrance is to the gardens where you have to pay a fee to get in. The gardens are quite small and there is zero entry to the water on that side and the visitor center is very small, but it is well shaded and very pretty. Worth going to see once in my opinion.

Kelly — Google review

This is a beautiful state park that is well worth a drive. There is a beach area annex with a large amount of coquina shells that the ocean tide splashes through. In the main part of the park, there are hiking trials, a garden, a small museum, a playground, picnic tables, and plenty of clean restrooms. The Gardens are absolutely beautiful, and a wonderful place to take a peaceful stroll and admire all the beautiful plants and their beautiful arrangement around the garden.I saw a gift shopped at the park, but when I visited on a Tuesday, it was closed.Dogs are welcome at the park. However, you cannot bring them into the garden area or on the beach. This park does not offer any camping, but it is a wonderful place to spend the day.

Courtney Ford — Google review

The park has two parts: one with a nice garden and lake view and across the highway is the beach. There are a few trails that you can walk in the forest. Entrance fee is $5 per vehicle and you can can purchase is from the kiosk or drop off in the collection box. The beach could get really windy and chilly during winter time.

Jenen Tan — Google review

This is a perfect Florida experience. $5 gets you in the state park. The gardens are beautiful and I can't help imagining how it would look each season. Pack a picnic, bring fishing poles and your camera. To walk the beautiful and well groomed trails is only about 1/2 mile. Highly recommend. If you are lucky, you'll see manatee (we weren't lucky).

Valerie Hanson — Google review

This park is a lovely walk through the gardens that borders the Intracoastal. (If you prefer a trail that is available too located closer to the entrance on the right.) There is a gift shop and bathroom across and next to the garden area. If you drive further down the road inside the park you will find bathrooms and picnic areas available. Dogs are not permitted inside the garden but are allowed in the picnic and trail areas.

Jenifer F — Google review

Beautiful park with nice walking trails. Magnificent oak trees with weeping Moss and a flower garden. Quaint little gazebo with a wrap around pond. Large lake water fishing area located in the back of the park for boating too.

Ocean Rain — Google review

A pleasant little park for a picnic, a longer place to walk the dogs, and a nice garden area (no dogs). Part of the original section of A1A is still there that can be walked on also. There is a playground and restroom facilities at the south end of the park along with a museum building along one of the walking paths. A nice day trip.

Ken Kirby — Google review

Washington Oaks is a lively place to take a leisurely stroll through the woods, tour carefully curated flower gardens, fish, play, bike, and just exist with nature. The rangers and volunteers are lovely people and care deeply for their park, offering events open to the public and participating in local wildlife conservation. The public beach access across the street is also part of, and maintained by, the park and is a local sea turtle nesting ground that rangers and trained volunteers help with. The restroom facilities are typical for a state park and are kept clean, parking is available in several parts of the park, and the entirety is very accessible.

Kevin Childs — Google review

Had a great walk throughout the gardens. We went a little early in the season, so the flowers weren’t all out, but the azaleas were blooming and the park is just gorgeous year round.

joanna spellman — Google review

this was my second visit to Washington Oak State Park. Last time was in the spring and I wanted to see it in the fall. It was just as lovely and not as hot! A lot of restoration work is being done, and the groundskeepers are working hard every time I go. I went to the garden section 1st and then crossed the street to the beach side where I discovered a very interesting coquina formation. I had not seen the first time. It is a bit of a walk so you will need to wear comfortable shoes. The restrooms were clean and easily accessible as was the parking. Note~ lots of bees in the rose garden if you are allergic

Paula Hamlin — Google review

Beautiful Sate park! If you haven’t gone go! Take a stroll along the water and fish 🎣 or bring a picnic basket to eat while you enjoy the views. I also saw that they do weddings and have plant sales periodically.

Gina Honold — Google review

Encompassing forest and shore habitats, this well maintained and relaxing park has been a regional favorite for decades. The formal gardens under the oak trees are spectacular, and the pavilion seems custom made for weddings. A local garden club utilizes the lovely green houses here and offer monthly plant sales to the general public. Hiking, fishing and picnic opportunities are to be enjoyed here as well and the entry free is very reasonable.

Wind Tree Studios — Google review

Beautiful views. Well maintained garden. Beach back open. Plants for sale once a month. Can book your weddings there. Saw dolphins today. Been there three times over several years and every time the fountains were in clean and made the gardens near them smell. Butterflies and bees love this place and I can't blame them with lots of variety of flowers.

These trees are absolutely epic. I also learned that Spanish moss is a cousin of the pineapple which I still don’t fully understand but I think it’s cool.

3/9/24: Met up with my friends here for the first time. She said it's "pretty". I will have to see about that! There better be something yummy here. Admission is 5 bucks.Highlights:1. Beautiful scenic view making wonderful backdrops for photoshoots2. Nature trails3. Plant Sale (today): ummm 🧐 I guess if you are folks who like growing and collecting a bunch of common, native, useless (non-edible) plants, then this might be a kudo. This is definitely not of my interest. 😂 No offense to the lovers.4. Private public restrooms are cleanCons:1. It's a state park with no playground.2. Definitely not kid-friendly.3. No pets and no bikes allowed.4. Rose Garden- They have the most pitiful looking rose garden.

Nice little park/boat launch. It has a playground for the kids and a few docks on the Intercoasta waterway for fish and viewing wildlife. We see dolphins and manatees there quite often.

Brian Keck — Google review

Lots of turning space, adequate docking space, decent park, great food at the restaurant. The only drawback is the quick transition on the ramp means lower trailers will drag hard as they pass over the edge.

Beautiful place for a high tide kayak trip. Lots of islands to paddle out to. Dolphins playing in the river are a common sight. The Boat ramp has a lot of amities with clean bathrooms, large parking area, an historical marker and a BBQ restaurant on site.

Good stop, with a little jewel, an archaeological site called Mala Compra (Bad Purshase). In Spanish times it seems that it was so conflicting living in that place that no body stayed long enough to reclaim the land.

Great park, very clean, lots of space to explore. Good size playground for the kids. Beautiful water front. And the Archaeology site was so fascinating. A nice place to stop, rest on some benches, grab some BBQ, and Let your kids run around. They have shade, picnic tables, a little history in the old Plantation building, and a great BBQ at Captains. European Village in Palm Coast is a vibrant destination offering a variety of experiences. With seven restaurants, including top-rated options, six bars, and local shops and salons, it's a one-stop spot for dining and shopping. The village also hosts the Palm Coast Farmers Market every Sunday, providing fresh produce and local goods. The European architectural style adds to the charm of this shopping destination.

The European Village was alive with vendors, shoppers and people out for a lovely Sunday afternoon!I treated myself to a delicious Indian buffet at 5th Element. I sat on the large, covered patio and watched the flow of shoppers as I enjoyed a wonderful meal.Live music entertained the crowds of people sitting outside pubs or milling about the many Sunday vendors. Wonderful atmosphere! As I left I noticed a large vegetable stand overflowing with fresh produce. That will be on my list for next time!

What a pleasant surprise!!Worth visiting for sure and I am sure that later on in the day, or early evening it is even more fun!!Different restaurants and cute little shops including A hair salon and a barber shop as well as a jewelry store! We opted for Indian today and it was delicious. The service was fantastic and the beer was just at the right temp. Our server Fidel (I hope I got his name correct) was knowledgeable about the area and answered all our questions.Visitors are just as nice because as we were walking around with our doggy bag from 5th element we could not believe this Italian platter that a family was just served as we walked by 😁 check out the picture of the Italian resultant so we exchanged compliments about our restaurant choices and for sure my Fiancé and I will be doing Italian next time and they thanked us for letting them how much we enjoyed 5th element Indian restaurant! We plan on visiting again and hopefully staying overnight so we can enjoy the food choices even more! I definitely recommend the European village! Check out the variety of choices with my pictures!

Underwhelming. Went for the farmers market on a Sunday, online it says "Rain or Shine", but apparently it's only if the vendors feel like it. Drove 40 mins for 1 veggie stand, 2 honey stands, and Israeli food stand. Bummer.

Alyssa Allen — Google review

We stayed the weekend at an airbnb located there. Friday night was live music from Chillula, not sure who played Saturday night. Food was pretty good from the one spot we ate at. (Mezzaluna) it's a very neat and fun place to visit.

Shanna Whittington — Google review

Awesome place with lot of restaurants to choose from and shopping from small stores. You can definitely spend afternoon with food, beer and shopping moving around. Must visit place if you are traveling to or from palm coast Florida.

Ashish Daga — Google review

Cute atmosphere but not a lot of stores open when we were shopping.

Connie Brinkman — Google review

Beautiful spot, went for the vendors, but they are a bit on the high side. If you're into Lynyrd Skynyrd, gotta visit the Red, White & Blue bar/cafe. Got a super deal on frozen seafood!

Rich Chouinard — Google review

Eating venues are decent but choices are limited. Nightly free entertainment is fair and does not bring a crowd. The Sunday Marketplace runs till 4pm and can be quite busy due to the various vendors selling unique goods and services. Crowds start to taper off about 2:30 - 3PM

This is such a beautiful place! Our Airbnb was stunning and we didn't have to drive anywhere for dinner. They have so many options. Was so glad for the vegan options.

Love it an old European style with shops and great restaurants, band on Friday nights, crafts on weekends

Rudy Placenti — Google review

The idea here is awesome but many of the shops are closed during the week and the choices of shops are very slim in general. It was pretty disappointing since I love Europe and I thought it was such a cool idea to have an area like this in Palm Coast. But it’s boring to be direct. There’s a farmers market on the weekend so it may be more lively during that time.

Heather D — Google review

The concept of European village was wonderful. It's a beautiful place. But it's too small. Probably it will only take you 3-5 mins to look around. And nothing to do or activities. It's just worth taking a few photos. There are only a few restaurants (6 restaurants )and 2 or 3 stores. Once you saw it, that's it not worth the long drive. ...

Phia Velasquez — Google review

Best open open air place to sit outside and have a drink or bite to eat. SUNDAY has the Farmers market. And sometimes there is live music.

Nature & Parks

Waterfront Park is a beautiful park located on the Intracoastal Waterway that boasts a range of amenities for visitors to enjoy. These include a fishing pier, children's playground, and walking/biking trails that connect to nearby trails like Graham Swamp Trail and Leigh Trail. The park offers scenic views and picnic areas perfect for outdoor gatherings. Additionally, the clean bathrooms and shaded areas make it an ideal spot for families looking to spend some time in nature.

Great little fishing spot even though all you'll catch are catfish😂 there are clean bathrooms, shade, a nice little playscape, and it connects up with a paved walking path/bike trail that runs about for miles! If you walk the 3.5 mile path, the views are breathtaking.

Jesse Lynn — Google review

Absolutely Beautiful . I recommend coming here with your family for your biking , walking , and rollerblading. It was a really pretty park with paths in the woods and along the waterfront .

C Roush — Google review

We loved the shaded corn hole area in the morning. A paddle board and kayak kiosk are a new one for me and these can be rented $25 hr through an app. The new launch is nice and safe with steps and handrail. Bathrooms are clean and the little park is fun for kids around 4 years old. There is ample parking and handicap parking available. There is a shaded picnic table area and a fairly large fishing pier.A really nice park that the city does a nice job of caring for.

Awesome linear park in Palm Coast. It right next to the water, you have lots of nature to see, birds in particular. The oaths are in great shape, for walking or biking. Truly enjoyable.

Beautiful park located waterfront on the ICW. Nice trails, playground, and great picnic areas. Lots of bike and walking trains that run up and down the ICW and connect to Colbert where you can connect to the Eastern most end of the Graham Swamp trail and the Leigh Trail

Beautiful New park on the matanzas inlet canal. Nice and peaceful

Alex Edwards (ToxSic) — Google review

Waterfront Park is located on the ICW( intracoastal waterway). There are barbecues bathrooms, bicycle pump and fix area. There are tables to sit at in the shade just in front of the bathrooms. There is a T shaped fishing pier. There is an emergency phone right next to the bathrooms. The paths around the park are all paved and there is a children's memorial park about 300 m North along the waterfront. There is lots of parking. The county is building a kayak launch next to the park that is under construction right now. It gets a little crowded on weekends in this park so the best days are the weekdays. Waterfront Parks hours are 7:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. 7 days a week.

Awesome place to hang out with great views. You can also bring your kayak and launch it into intercoast water to have an exciting day.

Edmund Stubbs — Google review

Waterfront Park at European village is a wonderful place to walk along the water. It is my favorite place to walk when I'm in Palm Coast. You can also bike there. There are ample pathways that are wide and let bikes pass by pedestrians. I'm a pedestrian and once was run over by a bike so this is important that the path be wide! There are signs along the way. There are a few Parks connected to the waterfront Park. There is a bathroom at the end of the trail so keep going if you need to find a bathroom like I did! I met several well behaved dogs along the way with their owners, which I enjoyed. Everyone seems to be cleaning up after their dogs.

For Mother's Day, my family went on the river tour and had a blast with Captain Bob. He was funny and entertaining while also giving us the history of the area and information about the wildlife. We saw a baby manatee, lots of varieties of birds, and even an alligator! Highly recommended.

Caitlin Appleby — Google review

Captain Bob is everything that you can ask for in a tour guide; knowledgeable, friendly, with southern wit and incredibly entertaining. Maybe he will let you even drive the boat...

Rick Palacios — Google review

I have been on this tour six times over the last three years and it is always a marvelous experience. Anytime I have guests in town, we will be on the boat. Captain Bob, as always, is very entertaining, knowledgeable and accommodating. I always learn things about the flora and fauna and my guests have raved about the tours. Looking forward to our next trip for Thanksgiving time. Thank you Bob, see you again soon!

Tom Kendra — Google review

The four of us really enjoyed the River Tour today. Tina was very helpful making the reservations and Captain Bob could not have been nicer. The Captain narrated as he piloted the boat. He was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to.Also made plans to have lunch at the Williams Landing Restaurant, located where you catch the boat. Great food, great service!

Dan Wattay — Google review

My husband, son and I took my father on this tour for Father’s Day. It is difficult for my dad to get around, so I called and discussed his mobility issues with Tina before booking the trip. She was gracious and very accommodating. The trip on the river was delightful and Captain Bob was fun and full of information about the river’s flora and fauna as well as local history. After we returned, we stayed and enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Blackwater Inn. Don’t miss this trip!

Park

De Leon Springs State Park, also known as Acuera, is a beautiful state park in south-central Florida with a spring-fed swimming area and hiking trails. The park is popular for its natural wonders and history, including the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant which offers delicious pancakes.

Really fun state park! We went over MLK Jr. weekend and it was a bit crowded and chilly but we still had a great time. The restaurant was already booked up when we got there so we are looking forward to going back to experience that but from the sights and smell it should be pretty good. Since they were all booked up we just ordered some food from the take away stand and it was really good for a decent price. The hot cocoa was really yummy and warms you right up on a cold day (although rare in Florida!) Would 100% recommend just as a place to get out of the house for a day. When we go back we hope to also try the kayaking and swimming!

Lexie Orozco — Google review

Beautiful, clean, lots of room to enjoy your day there.Breakfast was great, cook it yourself in front of you. We will be back!I wish they still had some of the stuff from way back in the day would be cool to see. The big building holds all the history of the place quite interesting. The trees are worth seeing in person, pictures do it no justice. And your car is parked in the shade😁😁. Almost every spot.Water feels cold at first but do refreshing. 72`They have canoe and tube rentals, you can catch the boat tour too.

Deena Jones — Google review

Beautifully maintained with something for everyone. Dogs are not allowed in the bathing area around the spring head, but they are welcomed if kept on a leash and under the control of the owner. Nice Sugar Mill Pancake house where you can order beer and wine and take out food. Did not check out the gift shop, kayak or boat tour, but those are all available too. Be sure to check out the Fountain of Youth!

Frances Sanderson — Google review

A beautiful state park, with a nice cool, fresh water swimming pool above the spring. The Sugar Mill "cook your own" pancakes were a fantastic breakfast, the bacon and sausage sides were very tasty. We will definitely visit again, next time we are in the area

Allan Findlay — Google review

New to Florida and visiting every springs possibly is on my husband’s and I to do list. This is number three for us and every single one is just as beautiful as the next. Skipped the pancakes (the wait can be a couple hours) but enjoyed the scenery and tranquility of it all. Water is cold (don’t let 72 degrees fool you) but just go for the plunge and all is well. I also appreciate a springs that has shallow water areas where I can just sit or stand and enjoy just being in the water. Would definitely come by again and perhaps maybe even try the famous pancake house. And be sure to stop by the visitor center and learn some historical facts about the springs and surrounding areas.

This State Park offers an exceptional time for families seeking a local fun experience. As we ventured through the park, we were captivated by its warm and inviting atmosphere, perfectly tailored for all members of the family. We enjoyed the swimming area with the clear waters and no gators or snakes!! Lots of kids and laughter echoed throughout the park and some cherished memories were made. Yet, what truly set this park apart was the hidden gem awaiting us at the on-site restaurant. With a lovely menu that included gluten-free pancakes. The gluten-free pancakes were a great, leaving us grateful for the attention given to our dietary needs. This place surpassed all expectations, offering a haven of joy, relaxation, and mouthwatering gluten-free pancakes for families seeking an unforgettable adventure.

Patrick Beedle — Google review

Beautiful park. The attendant at the park entrance today (6/8/23) was so welcoming and kind. Unfortunately I didn’t grab her name, but she was truly a delight and made our experience more enjoyable. The water was chilly but refreshing. If you decide to hike the trails, be sure to have bug repellent in hand because the mosquitoes will find you! Overall loved this park and will return. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers that contribute to keeping it running and maintaining its beauty. ❤️

Miranda B — Google review

Great getaway, springs are about 72 degrees year round, steps into water are covered with natural algae and can be slippery at times but allow an easier entrance into the water. There is a children's area roped off as the spring (boil) is very deep over 50 feet. You can use your goggles here and see how cool it is below the surface. The area behind the swimming area is separated by a walkway and mostly keeps the natural wildlife away from where the humans are enjoying the spring. You are able to fish on the river side but not off the walkway. The river also offers activities such as , paddle boats, canoeing, and boating as well as a guided tour that runs multiple times a day. Bring your own boats and toys and launch from here as well. There are trails to walk and the little old restraint where you make your pancakes on your table in front of you. Very family friendly and great fishing in morning and afternoon at the right time. Price to enter is less than 10 bucks for a normal car full, much lower for bikes and walk in guests. Go take a trip and see for yourself.

Beautiful Park! Enjoyed delicious breakfast at the restaurant, making our own 'all you can eat' pancakes.Enjoyed the boat ride. Captain Kim was awesome with information about the area. Saw many birds, gators, and local wild life. Definite must!!

Great Park. Canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking is available on rent. You can launch your own boat too. There is a deep water swimming area if you want to learn, test or practice scuba diving. Not too crowded, enough parking and great photogenic place with ample light for photography. The Sugar Mill Restaurant (also known as The old Spanish sugar mill restaurant) is wonderful too. Make unlimited pancakes yourself on the hot plate. Restaurant provides plates, batter, toppings and guidelines.

Kedar Mohile — Google review

We had a fantastic visit to the park today. The goal: get pancakes. Status: achieved. Everything else was a bonus. We arrived around 8:30, checked in at the Old Sugar Mill shortly thereafter, and had about an hour wait for the two of us. This was our first trip to the restaurant and we had such a fun time. Great food, great service. Highly recommend the multi-grain pancakes and pair them with some blueberries and bananas for an add-on.It was a cool day when we visited, but it was a nice day to explore the park, walk on the nature trail, and see the historical sugar mill artifacts. What’s more? Our annual pass had expired, so we re-upped for another year at the front gate.See you all next time!

Absolutely Loved this State Park! The Spring was Beautiful. My Favorite Part were the Trails... They are Awesome and I can't wait to come back to Explore some more. I definitely recommend a Visit to this Beautiful Piece of Old Florida!

Anita Waters — Google review

These springs and the surroundings are very nice to enjoy with family. It offers both swimming and fishing , which is a plus. It would be nice if the pancake house patrons were not taking up parking spaces for those just wanting to get in the park, but the pancake house cannot be moved, so it was it is. 😊. Plenty of nice pavilions are available and the best part is the price. $6 per car, but for the summer they had a promotion for $1 off. We couldn't have asked for a better time for a better price!

Lovely place. We checked out the Monkey Lane…the trails are worth checking out to see the Cypress Swamp. It felt like we were walking trails that dinosaurs roamed. Recommend packing mosquito repellant. There is a spring to swim in I recommend packing a swim suit. There is a small playground for kids ages 2-12 years old.The park rangers are amazing! When we first arrived one ranger kindly showed us a nine foot alligator through their binoculars!!!! Amazing rangers that made our Florida trip amazing!

April Robert — Google review

We had a lovely time walking the trails, swimming in the spring, and stopping by the mill restaurant for pancakes. It was a great day. They have a paved trail perfect for casual walkers or the less physically able, as well as an easy trail and a full 3 hour trail for the adventurous and able bodied. (We didn't do that one.) They also had paddle boats which we rented and enjoyed.

Shelly Baksh — Google review

Deleon springs state park is a beautiful and historic place to visit. You can just take a dip in the springs and have pancakes at the restaurant or you can expand your visit to include a boat tour to learn about the history of the springs and the sugar mill. There is a lovely nature trail where you can see monkey island, and see a 500 year old tree... Or if you're really adventuresome arrange for a 4-mile hike through alligator and snake infested swamps. There is a cave under the spring that certified scuba divers can explore, and a gift shop of treasures.

S & S RV Adventures — Google review

20231206 This historic park is smaller than I expected. There is a short trail that loops through the cypress trees, an area to swim, a beautiful spring where you can take a 55 min boat tour, an old sugar mill with a restaurant, a fountain of Youth that is dried up, and a small waterfall which is pretty. There is a longer trail that is muddy. There isn't much to do unless you go swimming, go for a boat ride, or to just walk around.

Tilly Lo — Google review

Beautiful park! Swimming on the spring available in the area where you first enter with a nice changing/bathroom and picnic area. There is a cave that you can scuba dive in, too. We came to the pancake restaurant and meet friends. Took a boat ride to see beyond. Saw manatee, alligators and lots of wading birds.

Anita Simmons — Google review

A great place for a picnic and swimming. The pool area is naturally temperature controlled due to the spring feeding thousands of gallons of fresh water into it. You can rent paddle boats canoes and other recreational toys. You can also take a ride on a tour boat and see some of natural Florida maybe even a gator or two. It is recommended that you get reservations if you wish to eat at the restaurant it's usually quite busy. There's even a nice dock for fishing. A great recommended family outing.

They lose a star for service because of the annoying, predatory, lengthy experience getting wristbands every time. I honestly should give 2 stars for it, but the only reason I won't is because every other employee is wonderful. The rooms are great for our needs (though I wish the 1 bedrooms were also available with ocean view), the amenities are satisfactory, the food and drink are convenient, and it is right on the water. We love doing mini staycations here besides having to deal with the wristband people.

I stayed at the ocean walk (south tower). Please do not book here. My family, 5 people were shocked. The service was poor and the room was not clean and dusty. I brought a cargo for my car and the security told me that it was too tall for the parking garage and suggested that I should remove it. I was okay with that and asked them if they had a storage unit I could place it in. They said that they have a storage unit, but they were used. They told me to either park my car somewhere else or take the cargo off and bring to the balcony. I didn’t want to park away from the hotel because it was far and inconvenient. I asked if I could have assistance bringing the cargo upstairs and they said no because the doorbell guy didn’t work for oceanwalk but for wyndham. I was very upset. The room smelled like dust and my son has asthma and was sneezing and coughing almost the whole time. The room was very outdated and old. The sofa was wore out and torn on the side. The bathroom was disgusting. The shower curtain was moldy, water pressure was very poor and the room only came with one roll of toliet paper. I asked for toliet paper at guest services and they said they would sent some for me to my unit. I waited an hour and came back down to ask again. They said that they would “talk to the owner” and then said that they couldn’t bring toliet paper to me, and they I went to talk to the security and they said to wait and then disappeared. I was very upset how my room only came with one trash bag and one roll of toliet paper for 5 people and 4 nights. When I went to the pool, they said that oceanwalk doesn’t provide towels and that I should use my own and the ones in the hotel room. This was not worth my time and money. I really do not suggest this place to anyone. Save your time and money somewhere else.

I remember when this resort opened up. I live a couple of towns away. The place is falling apart. We told the lady at check in that I was disabled and they told us that they were out of rooms. We got a room the furthest away from the elevators. It was very upsetting they claim that the lazy river is heated and it’s not. So at night. If you want to go for a lazy float you’ll be freezing. I used to love this place. They need to use their maintenance fees correctly to fix up the place.

kyle corbett — Google review

By far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. They first cannot accommodate me in a room I already paid in full for. Then they only give me 1 parking space for a room that sleeps 8+ people. It's 5pm we are trying to check in and our room is not available until 7:30pm! Also when trying to get coffee they do not provide coffee to our specific room number. And when trying to check in they tried to over charge me by me paying again for a room I already paid in full for.Worst experience ever not looking forward for the rest of my stay here until Tuesday.

The place itself is great. Very clean and spacious. However, if you book through VRBO and the rental management company says VACASA, do NOT book that property!! There is some dispute between Ocean Walk and Vacasa and even though you'll be paid in full and have a reservation number, you will be turned away! 27 of us were displaced. We were notified upon check in that Ocean Walk will not honor our reservation even though we were paid in full and have emails/texts from vacasa with our room numbers. We were all turned away. Some of us had the reservations for 6-12 months! I would recommend booking directly through an owner if possible. Some of us booked through VRBO and the property we chose wasn't managed through Vacasa and those reservations were fine. Just be on the look out for if it's managed by Vacasa

The Resort is good the only problem I had this year which I know was my fault. But when you leave something behind there lost and found can not find my items. I was told numerous time they always turn in stuff they find. Well I guess they were not so honest when they found my belongings. Call security numerous times and the last call I was told they would call me back no matter the out come. No call back was made 😡🤬advice make sure you double triple check your room before you leave.

The amount of people that have to share 3 elevators bc 1 is out of order is absurd.Be prepared to spend most your trip waiting on elevators.Rooms are sub par stocked, so being your own cooking utensils. Ice maker don't work.Just a mediocre service for the amount of money paid for the rooms.Never again

This place stole money from me, they are dishonest .ln my stay my air conditioner in my room broke on 4 separate occasions. Kept having to cut vacation short to come back to room for a technician. Explained to the manager Daniel at the front desk I wanted to check out a day early because it just wasn’t worth the trouble no more as it was no longer a vacation. He apologized and told me that the money would be refunded to my credit card for the day I did not stay. Over a month later I’ve left messages and had to open a credit dispute which the hotel claims they’d never promised and denied. Morally corrupt. Be aware to this hotel shares this property without another hotel which the staffs are constantly at war with eachother. I witnessed an arrest at the hotel, the area is flooded with homeless because the staff only enforces rules on small children, and as mentioned above their word obviously means nothing. Please be aware before you encounter the same issues which my family did.

Nice location, but the resort is all about selling timeshare to you. They hound you, and when you say no, they won't respond to you if you have a maintenance need in your unit. The units are old, and they have issues. They say that they have been renovated, but that is evidently untrue. Maybe they tried to fake it by using the 1970's furniture that was cracked and adding new table tops. This is not Wyndham quality. Someone in management needs to look at where the owners' money for maintenance fees are going. Definitely not into this resort!

We booked unit 1601 last month and recently found out a family member has cancer and will need surgery so we can't take the trip. We requested a deposit refund and the unit owner refused our request. The trip is months away and they still said no. Buyer beware of unit 1601. If they are this inconsiderate I would look elsewhere and recommend that you find another owner to rent from

Found a dried up bed bug and stain on the comforter. Someone came to “inspect” while we were gone and did not see it. We had to call the front desk multiple times. Our sheets were not changed. Eventually we got just 1 single flat sheet to cover ourself for the night. We never got another clean comforter and the old dirty comforter with the bed bug and stain was left in our room. Very disappointing experience.

Estefhany Sanchez — Google review

They take their bitter sweet time to get you checked for the price, that's for sure... but then have all day to talk about timeshares. But hey; common sense isn't a tool for idiots. That defintently applies to most of the employees here. Can't fix stupid. 🫡Also, whoever designed the check-in area out front must eat dirt or something. Absolutely nowhere to park while you're checking in. Like I said... can't fix stupid.

John B — Google review

Love love love this hotel but the problem is if you want a chair at the pool you’ll have to get up 2 hours early because people wake up at the crack of dawn to claim as many chairs as they can. Do the works do nothing about it. The photo shows a line to get chair 40 minutes before the pool opens

Cali Sheppard — Google review

Not the same place I stayed 10 years ago. First off the ladies at the check in desk could care less about the owner rentals. Wouldn't let me checking on time without a fuss, wouldn't let me use a large cart to unload without making me feel like a criminal. And don't bother asking for towels. The Ocean walk Shoppes are also a big disappointment, very dirty not maintained. Needs a new maintenance supervisor. This place was happening years ago. Sad to see it in this condition.

Very nice location and amenities. If you're a sun bather, the beach gets sun all day, but the resort pool sunlight is blocked by the building in the afternoon.

Just returned from Fall Break. This is a tough review to write as I've been coming here with our family for almost 10 years. It's always been our favorite place. We checked in around 11PM and the front desk person had gone home for the day so security did a temporary check-in that expired at 10AM the next morning. We had to check-in again early the next day. Small hiccup but annoying. The property has definitely gone through some decline. There used to be a large kids area down in the lower level with an activities room with daily activity for kids, a play room for toddlers, and a huge arcade. That is replaced with sadly the main focus: Timeshare sales. They did take a fraction of the arcade up a few floors. The once bar area downstairs has been remodeled but was never opened. There is a decent little food spot downstairs but they close early. All drinks and food are to be purchased outside at the poolside bar.I'll be honest and share some Pro's: Great location, great pool area, friendly bar staff poolside, access to the beach. The property focuses so much on timeshare and that is where they devote most of their money AND staff. There are also privately owned condos at this property which are not maintained very well, and we found out by staying in one this trip. The light in the bathroom was out, microwave rusted, curtains broke, garbage disposal broke, bathtub stained... it was numerous. BUT the worst part was that the beds were awful! I think they were the original mattresses. Nothing but old springs and they were sunken in the middle. My husband had to sleep on the couch. We eventually checked out early. We communicated this all to our owner (through Airbnb), but she said it was highly discounted room already. We spent $1400+ for 5 days.We also were used to getting towels from the desk downstairs and did so for 3 out of our 5 days. On day 4, my husband was embarrassed and mad because in front of the man who gave us towels all week, the woman said "I'm sorry those are for guests of the Wyndham Resort ONLY." He was instructed to go over to another desk of the privately owned condos and that person said, you have to use towels in your room. You are given different bracelets you are required to always wear on property that distinguishes you from a resort person or a guest of the private owned condos. I went online to see how much summer would be in a Wyndham Resort website and same rooms were about $4,000 for a week. SERIOUSLY!?! Wow. Sadly, my family will have to find another property to spend our time and money next year. Very disappointing. Daytona has been my second home for well over 35 years.

Beautiful place, stayed here for the weekend and it was great. the hotel has multiple pools and a lazy river which i spent a good amount of my time in and connects directly to the beach. The food there is really good as well, had the best quesadillas there. Would come back again. The room i stayed in was three rooms and had a patio, kitchen and living space with two bathrooms. There was a patio which gave us the prettiest view of the beach. The resort is also located on this boardwalk that has restaurants and other shops and activities. Additionally, the resort itself holds events everyday other than monday which is cool. There’s a also an indoor pool which hosts movies from time to time which i found interesting. Overall had a great time and would come back again.

Avoid units 2023 A & B! I paid more here than I have *ever* paid per night for lodging because I wanted to treat my family to what I thought was a special place. Don't make the same mistake!Vacasa, not Wyndham, manages these units. They appear not to have done any maintenance in years (& not much cleaning either). Their photos are deceptive, so I'm sharing some of mine.Reached out to Vacasa on day 2 of 2. They offered to send maintenance but we didn't want to waste our little remaining time waiting for workers who may or may not show. All this should have been fixed in between bookings, not at the expense of the customer's time.Left message for local manager after missing her call, but she never returned my call.

Daytona Lagoon is a family-friendly water park with go-karts, mini golf, an arcade, laser tag and a climbing wall.

Great water park and nice staff. Good prices for food and drinks. We will be back.

Lawanda Wilson — Google review

I’m at a conundrum with this place. There was 7 of us that came ranging in age from 12-45. We spent $761 total for tickets for “unlimited” food and drinks (Limited not completely unlimited. Don’t be expecting to eat and drink all you want all day. But you won’t starve either. For only $15 more it was worth it.) activities, the cabana and splash park. What I liked was that it was somewhat of a small park and so it was easy to keep track of everyone. I liked the unlimited play and food. The staff was friendly. We rented a Party Cabana which was nice to have throughout the day as a home base. Only thing I’d recommend is that they put a screen on the backside of the party cabanas because there was no shade from the sun in the afternoon. My main reason for the 3 stars was that it was very understaffed. They rotated the slides every hour. Meaning they only had one slide open at a time. The lazy river did not open at all during the day. The food wasn’t very good. Most of the time it took 20-30 minutes to get the food.My 5 kids were bored with it by 3 and three of them left to go back to the hotel and beach. All in all I would’ve given it 4 stars if they had more attractions open in the water park and given a military discount at the door (Was told that at the door they could only give a military discount online.)Would I visit again, probably not especially for the money I spent and the lack of activities to keep my kiddos entertained for the entire day.

We had a great time. There were no long lines to get in the slides. Plenty of chairs to be used. I don't know if it was because we went on father's day but we had a blast.

We went to daytona lagoon. The dry park side not water park. It was a decent time for the value of the money..I will say look online on the website for the best deals for your family concerning add on deals like food and arcade. The only down side at this particular visit was their go-kart track could be better, bigger. And they were short staff so we had to wait for one attendant to be done with another attraction to help us. Made the day kinda drag. We really liked the bumper cars, they are more fun than the usual ones. In allWe would try here again if we are in town. To give it a second try.

It was a real good experience, Is definitely a good place to bring kids, keep an eye on them. But it will definitely tired them out on the drive back home.

What a difference the water park is topped notch. Seventeen of us went last week. We had the most fun. They had so many choices different food items and drink. The staff was amazing.Easy checking when you have season passes.Love the new app that you can use to order in the cabanas.Take the family for the day.The new and improved Daytona Lagoon

We came on a Pool Daze day. The kids didn’t seem to mind the wait for slides and it wasn’t crazy busy. We rented a party cabana at the pool daze discount which was well worth the money (even without the discount it’s worth it). However, do not waste your money on the “deluxe” pool daze tickets for the “unlimited food.” It’s a gimmick. In fact, don’t plan on getting any real food on Pool Daze. They only have sad personal pan pizzas, drinks, and ice cream. The information on the website is very misleading as it says you can order once every 30 minutes. However, you can only order *one* item every 60 minutes - a personal pizza, ice cream (one scoop), OR a drink. We also found out that we couldn’t order food from our cabana.I understand pool daze have limited operations and staff. I would recommend only doing the water park and plan on eating elsewhere. The Pool Daze experience was quite disappointing given our past experience at Daytona Lagoon (in the summer) was amazing! I would give 5 stars based on our summer visit, but the pool daze experience is more like 2 stars. Giving 3 stars overall on this review.

Chrissie Yatzor — Google review

Nice place with varied attractions. We went during the week during a very slow period with very few people. I would encourage management to seek a faster checkout solution because with only 5 people in line it was a 30 minute wait to get basic tickets. They also severely reduce the amount of karts in operation so if you strategically visit during a slow time to avoid wait you will still wait a bit.

Logistix 5th Dimension — Google review

Small but cute, it has a wide variety of things to do from water park to go carts. Most young people who are working there so there weren't many friendly workers. We even told the manager that the nicest person that we came in contact with was the young lady that was running the little gift store for the tickets that you win on the prizes. The manager didn't even seem to care she was not very friendly either. However, the water rides the go-karts, and the arcade was fun, and the price was good.

Katt Beck — Google review

We went with our family of 8 to this water park and it was an awesome experience! We loved all the slides, the lazy river, wave pool, and the inside arcade area had lots of games for the family. The only thing that was slacking was the bathrooms and food options. The non alcoholic drinks and food were a little pricey and the pizza didn't taste good, but everyone loved the BBQ. Even though the bathrooms could be improved they were quite large and had showers available inside and locker rentals. There are also cabanas for rent, and I suggest going early to get the free chairs under the patio that are in the shade. Also, bring sneakers for some of the attractions that require them. The membership is a good deal if you frequent or live in the area. Overall, if you're debating whether or not to check it out it's definitely worth it. The parking deck was $10 for an all day pass. You can easily walk over to the beach and shops from the location.

Christina Marie — Google review

Had a great day, pricey and noticed after 3 more discounts on admission and no lines. Although the poor girl working the snack shop was truly pologetic we had to wait twice being told only 10 minutes for pretzels and it took forever to get them and just a order of nachos!! Couldn't understand why basics like pizza slices, nachos or even mozzarella bites aren't pre-made!!??

The Daytona Beach Main Street Pier is a popular tourist attraction that features seafood restaurants and arcades. It is located on the boardwalk near the ocean, and visitors can enjoy sunbathing, car racing, bicycling, and other activities on the beach.

The pier itself is not a huge deal, but the beach is beautiful...so different from other beaches I've visited in South Florida. Visited here in late March and the water was definitely cold and not exactly in swimming conditions. However, the kids enjoyed playing in the sand as it was a beautiful day. Being able to drive and park right on the beach was also pretty cool. Would definitely return.

J C — Google review

It's a huge beach, everything is clean. I rested under the bridge and saw a lot of people walking around. It was very fresh being down there.I didn't swim because of the strong waves and also we found some jellyfish on the sand, they're dangerous.Near the beach, you'll find many stores to get souvenirs and different stuff. There's a slingshot and other attraction if you want to take a ride..

Francisco Ochoa Ingl?s F?cil (Pacho8a) — Google review

We visited the Main Street Pier on a weekday in January, 2024. It was pretty much what I expected in most regards. I have been to quite a few piers over the years, and they all have the similar qualities being over the water with great views. So this one was pretty much the same. It was a cool and partly cloudy when we visited, with temperatures at the beach in the 70's to 80ish in the afternoon. This pier had a large Joe's Crab Shack restaurant in the middle of the pier. Other piers like the Santa Monica pier in California also have restaurants and such to a larger (and better) extent. In this case, the crab shack is basically the only building on the pier. Where as the Santa Monica pier has many choices. So the Main Street Pier is nice, but not overly large and with limited things to do on the pier itself. The Main Street Pier seemed to be in need of some maintenance, in my opinion. The wood seemed to be aging and looked to be in need of some replacement. I'm not saying that anything looked unsafe. Only that it looked like it could use some work. There were quite a few places where there were what seemed like patches on the decking, made of materials that looked nothing like the wood decking. We were interested in the restaurant, but they didn't have a menu outside available to pre-view. As such, we passed and ate elsewhere. So I cannot say how anything pertaining to the crab shack was, other than the lack of the outside menu. The pier had quite a few folks fishing off the pier on the ocean side, for the obvious reasons. But there was still a fair amount of room to take in the views and snap a few pictures. The fishermen kind of kept to themselves, but didn't prevent other folks seeking views or such.I don't know for sure, but there might be restrooms in the crab shack building. Although they are probably only for the crab shack customers. Like I said, I don't know since we didn't go inside. Although there are public restrooms right at the beach end of the pier at the park. They seemed fairly large and adequately clean when we visited. Although I will point out that the area was quiet that day. It might be different when the crowds increase. So all in all, the Daytona Beach Main Street Pier is a nice place to visit when you're in the Daytona Beach area. No it is not perfect and far from the best pier I have been to. But it is definitely worth a walk on. We also were not asked to pay a charge to visit the pier. Well other than our paying to park our vehicle near by at the park.

A lively and fantastic pier on Daytona Beach! Plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from! Safe, clean and very beautiful! Prices are fairly reasonable for a Florida beach. Not very crowded as it was on a weekday evening. Plenty of attractions and hotels nearby. Staff and employees were very helpful and very friendly! Very beautiful at night! Highly recommend making a visit here if you are in the Daytona area!

I wish there weren't awful hatt Preachers right out in front of the hotel where I was at. But I sure had fun with the Hare krishnas when those awful people tried to attack. I do feel bad that your race car Beach is almost non-existent because of sea level rise. All of the stairs have been taken out because of it except for one set where the hate preachers are.

We visited during an off season and the beaches are fairly clean. Parking was easy and there is a lot of shopping. A must do to see spectacular sunrises!!

Heather Meehan — Google review

This pier was nice. The Boardwalk was nice too. The parking is $2 for an hour (it goes up from there, but I only paid for an hour). Dogs may be allowed on the boardwalk, but they are not allowed on the pier. To walk onto it is also free, and it closes by 7pm. You do not need to go inside the restaurant to walk onto the pier, there's a walkway right near the entrance that will take you around. Fishing is $3 per person I believe.

Daytona Beach offers plenty of places to eat and drink. The beach is amazing. You can pay to park on the beach for $20. Keep an eye on the tide times. Parking outside of the beach is difficult unless you go to main street and park in the public parking and walk down. (Approx 10 min walk) Main street offers plenty of small shops , food and drinks. Go on event dates like Bike Week and it's really good fun and full of bikes showing off their mods. Well worth visiting if visiting. Parking in the local multi story will cost you $10 for the day. Overall if your in the area or thinking of visiting it's a nice afternoon/ day

Mark Connolly — Google review

The pier is surrounded by plenty of ships and restaurants with a restaurant directly in the middle of the pier. It has a small splash pad right below the entrance for small children. You can fish on the end of the pier and they have signs posted of what type of fish you might catch along with which ones you can keep and which ones you are required to release which I found very useful. There were several people fishing and we enjoyed watching them. It is a pretty long pier that gives you nice views of the ocean, beach, and the condos and hotels that are on the beachfront. If you enjoy taking pictures, the pier is a wonderful place to do so! It offers beautiful landscape, nature, and waterfront photo ops, so don't forget your camera or make sure that your phone is charged because you don't want to miss out on capturing some beautiful views!

Been coming here for 40 plus yrs. Still amazed at the size of this beach. It's never crowded, anytime of the day. It's a gradual walk into the water, no drop off. Perfect for kids. Lots of places to stay and eat. The pier is so much fun on a Saturday night. You can't beat this place!

Alistair Renshaw — Google review

Save your money not worth it.. unless you bring everything there is nothing to do here. The water is nice and the beach is relatively clean but other than that it's not worth it. It's packed and loud, no shade or any attraction, not really any where to get food. and despite the fact that on the website it says there are designated areas where you can take your dogs there are none and you will get kicked off the beach, after they take your money and let you on it

dana Grush — Google review

Miles of old worn-down and poorly-aging condominiums dot the highway. The place needs a major face-lift and more recreational and modernized dining options. Some of the high rises are so close to the waterline, it looks like they are about to fall in. In December, this place is a ghost town.

The ‘Worlds Most Famous Beach Daytona Beach’ sign is nice and all but really the beach is pretty good and totally worth a visit; don’t just snap the sign and leave. Mostly blue water, light sands and great to see everyone social distancing. waves looked fairly gentle, a lot of fishing and a lot of families having good times in the sun. Beach umbrella rentals doing a roaring trade when I was there.

If you are planning to visit this beach, do not search “Daytona Beach” we got confused as Daytona beach is a city name. You need to search by including “World famous” in it, and it’s for a reason! You can drive in your car around the shore for $20. The beach is very clean and calm. If you have enough time do spend an evening there, you will never get bored of this calmness. We saw all kinds of people having fun, camping, dancing, modeling and making best of their time. There are limited parking outside the entry gate, it’s better to take ticket and drive at the shore. A must go if you are around Orlando

Daytona beach really surprised me! I loooved getting to spend time in the water and just relaxing. Very chill and family vibes. The sand is white and the water is clear enough for me. I would definitely go again and visit!

Came by to walk the pier and check out the food. The whole beach smells like smoke and garbage. It feels super dirty so you won’t have an appetite. The beach did look like a great spot to play in the sand and had great waves.

Kate Stepherson — Google review

I normally avoid this are of Daytona, it is where the party seen is. Although I went today seeing how last minute we decided to go watch the sunrise so we did and then hung around the beach for a few hours. The beach was dirty the people that go there to party unfortunately do not clean up after themselves! There was a man passed out in the sand as well, clearly from the night before and yes I made sure he was alive and gave him some water and he went back to sleep without a care in the world. Do your part and clean up your trash.Otherwise it was a great trip. We enjoyed the sunrise and we spent a couple of hours getting some vitamin D. Kudos to the workers on the beach they where out early picking up the trash and emptying bins doing their best to clean it up so BIG THANKS for that. I would advise going further away from the boardwalk for family’s just my opinion but as always we had a great time.

Lilmisskml — Google review

Driving on the beach is a different experience. But other than that, nothing special about the beach. Very congested place. Unclean beach. No easy access to showers or washrooms. People blasting music with loud speakers and smoking everywhere. Can’t even breathe fresh air at the beach due to the cigarette smell. Jacksonville and St.Augustine beaches are so much better. Daytona is an overhyped place.

Naren — Google review

This area (experiencing a high rise construction boom) has become run-down, with little variety in cheesy souvenir shops, T-shirt shops and bars predominant. Everywhere we walked we inhaled the secondhand skunky-stink of pot smoking tourists. Ugh. The beach itself was a mess with trash - tossed cups and food rinds littering the sand. Sidewalks are grimy - City of Daytona Beach, you should be ashamed..! Hire people to rake the beaches and use pressure washers on those sidewalks.! Disgusted by the condition - we will never return here..!

The Daytona International Speedway is one of the countrys major racing meccas and is home to the iconic Daytona 500. The track offers various tours that last from half an hour to three hours, with some VIP experiences even offering a lap or two around the track at high speeds. The race itself takes place yearly in February and is known as one of the most exciting races in the world.

What can I say, amazing venue even just for the tour. I say just but the time taken by the staff in the tour and the details provided were amazing. The museum is great to see too and invokes the spirit of Indy perfectly. Would highly recommend.

Richard Greeves — Google review

I got great seats and the fanzone experience but it wasn't the VIP I truly wanted. Drivers don't sign autographs for kids anymore. That was kinda disappointing. Race was great. Prices not bad at the concessions.

Danielle Weightman — Google review

It was an excellent experience to go to Daytona and be inside the most famous track in the world, we went to the Jeep Beach festival, it is a “crazy pod” the volunteers and everyone who was there were happy, the vibe was spectacular!!! Daytona here I go again

Diana Lesmes — Google review

Posting review late, we visited here on September 17, 2023Highly recommend coming here, either for a race or to experience the tours! I was a little kid in a candy store, this place is amazing if you're a race fan! I recommend doing the tour, lots of great information that I never knew about! If you don't do the tour, definitely go visit the museum! They don't just have Daytona cars in there. They have a little bit of everything! Very cool! I wish we would've had more time to see everything in the museum though, we had to catch our tour bus by a certain time. The gift shop has something for everyone, so don't leave without stopping in there. Overall, I'm very happy we came here even though it wasn't race day! We'll be back though!

Stephanie Ellis — Google review

This place is more organized than my local school district, amusem*nt park, and boyscout troop combined. Everyone is so incredibly nice. Our experience is a memory for a life time.

Debra Benton — Google review

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Been coming here 20yrs. The new stadium vs the old is so much nicer! The escalators to the top of level 3 are the best thing ever!!! No more climbing stairs. Plus the fact that you can bring in your own soft side cooler wow what a great way to spend the day watching some racing. Cars, trucks and motorcycles there is always something great to see here. Buying your tickets in advance can certainly save you some money.

John Lake — Google review

They've really improved the fan experience over the years here. You can't have a bad time at DIS even when the weather isn't optimal. We had the coldest weather for the Rolex 24 and I'm not a cold weather girl but I braved it and had an awesome time with my Mom!

Georgiana Hatcher — Google review

This is the closest racetrack to us. I like to go here for the several car shows they have during the year and for the museum. This is the best time to visit as there is plenty of spaces to park then. If they are having a race make sure you get there early as it will fill up quickly. The museum is real nice and you can see the history of the track there as well as some of the cars that raced on it. This is also the place to buy your souvenirs.

John Haddock — Google review

My grandsons and I took the tour of the Speedway. It was awesome! They are big race fans and enjoyed being able to get on the track. This tour is worth the $25 tickets. It also includes the museum.

Annette — Google review

This experience was awesome. We got the tickets to take our boys to see the museum and take the tour of the track. It was well worth it. Our kids had so much fun, and we were so happy that they enjoyed it. It was a bit pricey, but honestly, it was worth it, especially seeing my kids' faces.

Crystal Baker — Google review

A must for car enthusiast! The tour is awesome!! Our guide was very knowledgeable, got to see most of the track, even had some cars going round the track. Lots of great auto racing history in the museum

Daniel Perez SR — Google review

I loved attending the Rolex 24 race! I've also taken the Speedway tram tour a few times and really enjoyed that experience as well! I don't even know anything about racing.😉 The tours are a little different every time depending on what is happening at the track. Always plan ahead because tours can sell out. I highly recommend any activity at The Daytona International Speedway!

Stacey De — Google review

This racetrack was much bigger than I thought the pictures don’t even give it justice! I was supposed to attend the Daytona 500 this year but because of the rain they had to postpone it till the following Monday so I had to go home. However, even though the Xfinity race and the Daytona 500 race was postponed because of the rain, I still enjoyed my time and got to see race cars up close and got to see how they land in their positions. It was an awesome experience. Will come again when the weather gets better.

I won a chance to drive my own car on Daytona International Speedway through a loyalty rewards program called Marriott Bonvoy. I drive a Suburban daily, so I did the only sensible thing I could think of, I rented a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LT with every bell and whistle on it Chevy has and had the time of my life! We were supposed to only get four laps each on the track, but a few of us got lucky and got five in! It was something I'll never forget. All of the employees went out of there way to make sure we were all having a great time, top notch from start to finish!

Dereck Kelley — Google review

Went to Daytona 500. What a wild ride. We had 2nd row seats and it was intense. I wanted to experience the most intense experience and we got it. However you will have a better viewing experience from the top rows. All in all I really enjoyed it.Once in a lifetime experience don't care to go back. It's far more enjoyable on TV.But it was an intense and insane experience in reality

Random Someone — Google review

Truly a cool place for all gear heads and car enthusiasts. Enjoyed attending the Turkey Run car show. So much to see, all on the inside of the track. Really cool getting to walk on such a famous track racetrack! Didn't have to pay for parking either.

Kaleb Curl — Google review

One of the best experiences I had on my Florida visit! Most people are not aware that you can actually buy tour tickets that will take them directly on the actual race track (near the start finish line!) which is super cool as you get to experience the track by being actually on it!

Ajit Mali — Google review

First time to a race. It was cool ! I loved the seats we were in it was a great view. Bring your own snacks and drinks its pretty expensive to buy food.Fun day except for the accident. 😬

Julia Salvucci — Google review

The tour guide was very knowledgeable. He gave many opportunities for pictures to be taken. Staff even assisted everyone with picture taking. We got to see a handful of cars do laps around the track. The facility as a whole is very well kept. The only downside is that I felt a sense of "bait of switch" with the supposed photo that was noted to be included in the tour.Multiple pictures ARE taken, and you have the opportunity to choose whichever you like at the end of the tour.HOWEVER, you get presented with different options of your pictures to PURCHASE 😬. If you don't buy it,they give you a card with a QR code to SCAN and download/upload..🤯 The advertising clearly says that a picture is included..but they didn't specify as to HOW..so fyi..but despite that, I'd return there hands down. Oh and the guide gave helpful advice about attending when actual events are happening! That itself will be helpful for anyone 🥳.

The Nascar experience was incredible. If you can really try and pick a package that is longer than 8 minutes. I did the 32 minute package and don't regret a single thing! All the people helping you are professional and friendly. The ladies running the souvenir booth are awesome.

Scott Bennett — Google review

My husband and I took the tour. You get so much more for your money. The people are so nice and helpful to answer all your questions. It is so much to see, and you get your picture taken. They can print it there, and they also give you a card to scan and order it.

Umeka Waters — Google review

We visited for the Magic or Lights. Our family really enjoyed it. It seemed much longer than other displays we have visited which made it a good value for the money. The staff was friendly, and the picture ops very nice. We will definitely be back next year and hope it's a little different each time.

Miranda — Google review

One of America's most iconic sports venues. Attended the 2024 Daytona 500 but spent the day before at the museum and on the midway. My son and I had SO much fun and thoroughly enjoyed race day! But you can go to the museum and to take a tour when there are no races and learn about racing rich history, not just NASCAR. I will be back!

Joe Schilp — Google review

I just happen to be traveling and working in the Daytona Beach area on Bike Week so I decided to shoot across the street from where I was working, to the Daytona Speedway to check out all the vendors and awesome bikes. I commend the event for all of the signage and barricades that they put up. Everything was easy to navigate and there were NO QUESTIONS on where you could and couldn't enter or exit at. It was quite the awesome sight and experience! Everyone I met or spoke to was super cool and approachable. (Yes..even some of the bikers that were a little long in the tooth...they were all awesome people!) Good energy, good vibes, good people, great bikes, great times! Everyone should experience this, even if you don't ride...you'll enjoy it!

Richard Morgan — Google review

Went with friends to take the tour. We had a great tour guide “Dave”. Very knowledgeable. Made the experience worth going. Sold us all on the sport and we will be coming back for a race. Thanks Dave !

Mojo Jojo — Google review

We love the tour. It was interesting and entertaining. I learned so much and lots of pictures opportunities. The museum was also great. The train ride takes may be 1 hour, and there are spots you can go down to explore, take some pictures 📸 .The museum and souvenir shop are until 5 pm.The tickets vary in what tour, race, events, or experience. We just got the regular tour one, which is about less than $30.We enjoyed our visit.Hopefully, we will experience the race 🏁 next time.

For all the car enthusiast out there this is a once on lifetime experience if you get to go to Daytona 500 even if you’re not a big NASCAR person it’s really cool to see the speed and the culture at this racetrack. The track is beautifully maintained and the grandstand is well built where everything is very visible at the venue is also extremely friendly

Chris V — Google review

Went for the Daytona 500 and will for sure go back. Track is huge. Lost of different levels for different views. Seats were honestly not bad. Free wifi was pretty fast to be honest. Really good connection. Bathrooms were clean. Parking is obviously madness but it’s expected with events of that size. Entrance was super easy. 10/10 in my book.

Kameron Ackermann — Google review

Fantastic experience, fanzone tickets a must, signed start line. Live bands, food amazing. Atmosphere unbelievable. Definitely need ear plugs. Daytona 500 book well in advance. Great day, but be prepared to stay in the area a few days after as they may change the day of race depending on the weather.

Sue Proudfoot — Google review

If you’re a NASCAR fan you need to visit the Daytona Speedway at least once. This place is massive. Don’t sleep on seeing a concert here or catching any race including the Rolex 24 hour of the Daytona 500. If you’re ready for more than take a few laps in a stock car at 150 miles per hour +

Flea market

Shopping

This flea market is a fun place to visit because it has a lot of different kinds of vendors selling everything from clothes to food to jewelry. It's open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and features 650 booths. On the first Saturday of each month, there's also a car show with hundreds of classic cars!

I was quite impressed when I got here. Very clean, easy to navigate and friendly vendors. It’s definitely is a place for tourists to get Daytona T-shirs, coastal decor and fresh produce. There’s even a small restaurant inside.

Courtney Chambers — Google review

Expansive flea market with almost everything under cover and in the shade. Some air-conditioned areas, most places have misting fans. Great selection of seemingly countless booths. Friendly vendors. Ample and organized parking in the grass (no pesky sand like at some flea markets). Highly recommended. I'll return and stay longer on a cooler day.

M — Google review

Spent the whole day. It was great. Carried around a couple of beers and looked at everything. Went to Hops for lunch. Fantastic french fries and real meat cheese steak. Worn the heck out at end of day. The mobility shop rents scooter chairs. I think we might need those next time. lol

Nanetta Bridgman — Google review

Always a good time! Go see Steve for the best pickles you will ever have! Plus, he's just a cool dude. Dog Tag Jeans has the best jean selection, with great prices! The owner is a veteran and donates a percentage to help vets! There are so many fun things to do and see here.

If you're looking for variety and a true taste of Daytona local fare this is a great way to get out for fresh air, sunshine, beautiful produce and all your shopping cares! Scented candles, soaps, oils, clothing, jewelry, housewares, cabinetry, tires, sheds, electronics and more things I can't even begin to list! They have EVERYTHING! And I've officially made a habit of enjoying this amazing shopping environment for my health,my pleasure,my savings and for the support of my local businesses. I hope others find this gem that I call my community. I LOVE our local Farmer's Market! 😃

Katherine Farrow — Google review

We’ve been to many flea markets and this is one of our favorite. Good variety of store sites- yes T-Shirts galore at good prices, fresh vegetables and citrus fruit, trees Ann’s flowers, food vendors and mini cafe center spots with cold beverages. Restrooms were older but kept clean.Bring good walking shoes if you want to see all the vendors 😁Plenty of parking.Right across the highway I-95 from Daytona Speedway. We even watched a space launch from the parking lot.

First time worth the trip.I didnt get to see it all in one day pl is huge and staff were awesome. I def be back despite the hour commute. Lots of bargains. Glad my work colleague recommended this pl.

Marjorie Martinez — Google review

Very cool place. Lots to look at and many bargains to be found. We were disappointed that there were not really any options to eat. Otherwise a fun experience. It rained really hard during our visit but we were well protected as everything is under cover.

Jason Reeson — Google review

Seemingly endless rows of great stuff, new and used, for sale and at reasonable prices. You can get nearly anything from fresh fruits and vegetables to socks and underwear to tires and beyond here. It's the next best thing to the old Flea World in Sanford that I've found. It's covered to protect you from rain and the blazing summer sun. They have fans on the rafters that help move the air around and make the heat a bit more tolerable. There are several concession stands to stop at and grab a quick bite and drink if you're hungry. The prices at the concession stand is palatable. Parking here is a snap as there are acres of area to park. If you get there early enough, you may even be able to score a parking spot in the shade of some of the trees. The rest is all uncovered/ unshaded but it's all free. Even if you're not in the mood to shop, it's a good place to go just to sit and people watch. Enjoy!

Nice market, neat and clean, lots of variety of collections and goods, sincere setting, clean bathrooms, plenty of parking, free admission, and good restaurants inside with A/C. I love their Boba Tea 🌹

Chanbo Keo — Google review

Visited with my parents last weekend. There's a lot to see here! I would recommend going in the winter, or else it's miserable from the heat. They have overhead fans, that were not on & running for some reason. There could be more bathrooms. A lot of vendors that were just not there! The quality of the items & prices were better than Renningers. The vendors were much friendlier as well. Met some very nice people. Give it a try!

Kaley Ruscigno — Google review

It was ok. There were lots of vendors and lots of bike parts, except the ones we were looking for, of course, but that's the luck of the draw. They had a couple of food trucks, and people selling they wares. I was kinda shocked on Friday (& it was miday) that some vendors weren't open, and others were just putting out/separating parts. They had a stunt bike riding show, that had 1 really really good rider. He was fearless and fun to watch. The others were good and still practicing, even had the next generation practicing in the grass on his little electric bike. To cute!

Angie Saunders — Google review

The vendors are very pleasant and we went there to see the classic car show and was not disappoint it

Art museum

Museums

Non-profit organization

The Museum of Art in DeLand, Florida features a rotating selection of compelling exhibitions, making it one of the top art museums in the area. The Museum is located in Downtown DeLand and is easy to reach on foot.

We spent an hour and a half at the Museum of Art on a rainy day and it did not cost much at all. We enjoyed the experience. Parking is on property in a lot behind the building. The museum has spacious galleries on the first and second floors. The art is by different artists and gives the visitor a taste of the many impressions of the art that exist. What we liked most was the variety of art we discovered at the museum at small cost of admission.

Joe Graham — Google review

Pretty good museum. $10 and got access to both of their museums for 3 days. The downtown location is upstairs. Saw the Mellancamp exhibition. The Stetson location is two floors. They have the Outsiders exhibited here.

Tom Jordan — Google review

We like to visit the Museum of Art in Deland, FL. For $10, adults can visit two museums-one in the historic downtown area, the other across from Stetson University (within walking distance). Their exhibits vary, and you can find out about the current ones on their website. We especially like the museum stores, where they have some great gifts and souvenirs.

Gail Sawrie — Google review

Went with my oldest child and we really enjoyed it. I paid $5 for admission and my teen got in for free since she was a student. The admission also included the other Museum in downtown DeLand. It's worth it, go check it out!

Courtney Slaydon (CrispyBeaches) — Google review

Highly recommend checking this museum out if you happen to be in town - a lot of surprising pieces can be found hereI was sadly unable to visit their second downtown gallery, because I was short on time, but I look forward to seeing both in the future.Wonderful staff too, very sweet and informative

Susan Kairys — Google review

As an artist, museums like this serve to re-inspire me, re-awakening my imagination and interest in art when it's gotten stagnant. Friendly staff and every artist will find at least one work of art in this diverse collection that inspires them. I found several.

Naomi Starlight — Google review

I was so surprised! The quality of their contemporary art collection was filled with eclectic works of high quality. Now that this museum is on my radar- I will come back for more of their exhibits.

Carrie Ann Baade — Google review

DeLand has a number of museums, but 2 are dedicated to traditional as well as contemporary art. They represent the major art museums in this small, but unique Central Florida city. DeLand has a wonderful vibe represented through art, music , restaurants and dedicated community members who make this a great place to live. And, the museums offer that element of culture which is readily available to anyone interested.

John Stetson's luxurious estate, the Stetson Mansion, can be toured as part of a living history museum. Constructed in 1886 for the hat manufacturer John B. Stetson, the home once entertained some of Florida's most notable historical figures and can still be seen today through guided tours.

Beautiful mansion, both the outside area and inside. Crazy amount of beautiful Christmas decorations in every room. Probably coming back in the spring to see the inside without all the decorations and to see the 3rd floor (off limit during our tour as the owner was staying there). Not cheap, around $30 per ticket.

Kare Backstrom — Google review

I have taken both the Xmas guided tour and the Historical tour. The Xmas tour is fun for those who enjoy decor. It’s very thought out with a lot of fun items to find. There are always different themes each year. But the best tour in my opinion is the Historical tour which is sadly coming to an end in a couple of weeks. The Historical tour takes you through the by history of the Stetson family, interesting facts about the home, and a discussion about his work as a hatter. Our most recent tour guide, Jo Ann, did an amazing job taking us from room to room and answering every question that the group had. At the end of the tour we purchased both books to take home and continue learning about the history of such an amazing home. The only downside of the tour is that you cannot take photos inside, but being that this is a private residence, and is only funded by tours, it is understandably why they ask for privacy.

Koontz Photography — Google review

We took the guided tour and I highly recommend it. Our guide was such a delight. She truly loved the place and gave us so much detail on the planning and history of both the house and the Stetson family. Plus her descriptive narrative was riddled with humor which kept us interested and made the tour more pleasurable. The 10 decorated rooms were amazing. Each room had a different theme from the others and from years past. We were delightfully impressed and I believe will make this tour an annual Christmas tradition.

Judith “Judy” Wheeler Bastin — Google review

A must see! Beautiful house. They still had holiday deco up so I want to see it without all of the decorations to get the real feel of the house and architecture. It was tastefully done though.

Lovely restored mansion with some nice Florida history. Go for the unique original architectural features. Plan on going for the spectacular Christmas decor.

Nilufer Kessler — Google review

Visiting the Stetson is always a treat, but especially at Christmas to see JT's talent on display! Beautiful decor highlights the historic home & is a joy. We took the guided tour & were treated to a heartfelt story from JT in the dining room about what Christmas meant to him & his family. Our guide for the rest of the home was knowledgeable & entertaining. Photos aren't allowed inside, but trust me when I say you won't be disappointed!! It's a sight to experience 🎄

We visited the Stetson Mansion today for the Christmas Spectacular Holiday Home Tour and it was fantastic! Highly recommend the guided tour with JoAnn to learn more about the decorations and a little history about the house. Her infectious personality and storytelling made our visit even more enjoyable. Each and every room, even the kitchen and bathrooms have a dedicated theme. The attention to detail and the creativity behind each room is truly amazing. I especially loved all the inspirational sayings sprinkled throughout the house. Definitely a must visit and our family will surely make this an annual holiday tradition.

Jennifer Abreu — Google review

Fabulous Christmas decor and a surprise pop-in by JT the owner who does all the decorating. Try to go to the 7:00 p.m. guided tour as it is special. Each room has its own decor starting with angels and cardinals in the Grand Staircase in the entry, Department 56 layered on a tiered tree, Snobabies filling up a bedroom and the kitchen dedicated to military heroes, just to name a few of the rooms. Such a beautiful sight it is still racing through my mind two days later. A must tour in the central Florida area as it is also one of Florida's most historical homes and the first to have electricity installed by Thomas Edison himself.

Kathy Voorhees — Google review

An amazing beautiful home with the most wonderful Christmas decorations anyone could imagine. It’s said that it takes 3 months to decorate the home and the passion and love shows. The only downside is that there is no photography allowed inside the home.

Bryan Countryman — Google review

My sister and I took our mother as a Christmas present. She absolutely loved it, she had to use her walker to get around. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful getting her though it because we had to take our time to get her through. We would recommend it anytime.

The Proprietor spent 3 months decorating this home in a Christmas theme. Each room was intricately decorated, and we participated in a delightful guided tour. The Proprietor himself even came to visit and gave us some heartwarming background stories about the mansion and some of the decorations. Southern Hospitality at its best--when I had to take a break from walking and standing, the other Proprietor brought me a picture book of the mansion rooms, and I was able to scan the QR code to get my very own audio tour while sitting comfortably on the beautiful front porch. :) Truly a stunning home!

Sally Jecmen — Google review

We did the Christmas Tour! Very much worth it! Beautifully decorated for Christmas! Kim was our awesome tour guide.

Matt Bishop — Google review

We came to the mansion because it was on a haunted house list. When we arrived the house was locked but the gate was open. There was a sign outside that says scan for self-guided tour. We went to the door to see if it was unlocked and it was locked. We walked around the house a bit and found a staff member. Explain to her that we were interested in seeing the inside of the house because it was on a haunted tour list. She was not happy that it was on a haunted house list and did not seem very friendly with us. She didn't explain that the self-guided tour was the Christmas tour and was $35 per adult and $20 for children. We felt that was a bit high. We took some pictures on the outside and when we went to leave she had locked us inside the property by closing the gate up and locking it. The staff member came to the gate to unlock it for us because we were sitting in front of it and there were people outside trying to come in for the tour. I think this property could be ran better than how it is being run.Follow us for more great reviews ™

Shainey Marcus — Google review

Great tour at Christmas time for sure. Kim was a great host and gave us lots of good info. We would like to back outside the holidays to see more of the super cool house. Thank you for sharing your home, the rooms were decorated one better than the next!

Jamie Randazzo — Google review

Absolutely Amazing tour of this beautifully restored mansion, but to personally see the amount of Christmas creations strategically & thoughtfully placed in each room, nook & cranny was such a treat! It's a highly recommended must visit, & we plan on coming back again to experience the artistic joy w/ our visiting family. Great surprise!

Domingo Clemente — Google review

It's expensive, but we really wanted to go to see the over-the-top Christmas decorations that this place is known for. We signed up online a couple weeks ago and paid then. Yesterday, the day before our visit, we received an email that revealed some things about our visit, set for today. It recommended using restrooms off property before arriving. The mansion's only restroom facility the public could use was a portable outdoor unit out in the parking lot. The other thing the email warned against was arriving more than 20 minutes early. It said parking was limited and the gates would only be opened at certain times. This was not an issue as we were early and parked easily and without hassle. We assembled briefly on the porch and started touring the inside of the mansion. Photos were prohibited inside (also stated in the email). We moved from room to room on the mansion's first and second floors as we listened to the tour's audio on our phones, which were browsed a lnk provided in that email. The audio program was the owner's own narration of the decorating job that he took the past 3 months doing himself. We thought the decorations were spectacular and captured both the Christmas spirit and the Stetson family history. Also there was a nice patriotic salute to servicemen near the end. It was all so well done and made us glad we visited the "mansion that hats built" today.

Wow!!!! Came here for the Christmas decorations and got so much more! The mansion by itself is unbelievable, the time and dedication it must take to maintain this beautiful historic home is beyond comprehension! The Christmas decorations what can I say WOW! Each room has a unique style and theme to it. Hard to pick a favorite room or design! We crossed paths with JT the owner and designer of the displays. He is a very talented artist and designer. He took the time to chat with us about his experience in making this come to life! This one of a kind place is very special from the architecture of the house to the Christmas display. I wanted to say thank you for sharing your home and your talents with the public! It was amazing!

Absolutely Beautiful Christmas Displays! Amazing historic craftsmanship. And if you get the honor of meeting the owner/creator of this holiday spectacular he is very amicable and a delight to chat with.

The Athens Theatre is a historic performing arts theater in Deland, Florida. The Italian Renaissance-style theater has been used for a variety of events throughout the years, most recently hosting concerts and films.

Saw Beegees tribute band and they were excellent. The ushers were very helpful and friendly. With the Omicron virus so prevalent, I am glad they enforce masks

Very cool place to see a concert. We saw an Eagles tribute band and they were great. Theater is historic and only holds a few hundred people. Very intimate setting. We'll certainly be going back!

Nice place. Great acoustics. Went there to watch a Styx, Boston tribute band. Was awesome.

Our first time at the Athens Theater and we were so pleased with this historic gem! I was so impressed with the venue and the friendly people that work there. The Fleetwood Mac Experience was out of this world amazing! Super talented musicians who know how to connect with the audience. What an extremely enjoyable evening listening to a wonderful group of musicians. My hubby and I had a blast! Will definitely be back for sure!

I can’t possibly say enough great things about the Athens Theatre Youth Academy! My daughter started attending summer camps a couple of years ago and it has branched out into musical theater class and private vocal lessons. She has learned so much from their incredible teachers who really go above and beyond in their efforts with all of these kids from all varying age & skill levels and most importantly she has had the best time doing it! She is already counting the minutes until this year’s summer camps begin! Thank you so much for providing a safe, fun, inclusive environment for all of the local children to grow and to shine!

An awesome little venue, built in the 1920's, I have gone by this location many times in the past but had never been inside, I had the chance to see a James Taylor tribute inside and loved it, the acoustics were wonderful as was the environment

This is my 3rd play so far here and all have been very well done. They do many events here besides plays as well. It's really awesome our town still utilizes this orig theater and is still around after so many years.

What nice theatre, every seat is good, we went and saw "Fleetwood Gold" - superb performance!! I "do vaguely remember"😀 seeing the original group back in the 60-70s and Gold was right on with the music! The Athens was their very first gig, and now a return performance! And then to top it off, they go out front and meet the patrons... high class in my book!!

EVERYTHING about the theatre and the play CLUE was EXCELLENT! Every member of the staff was very nice and this historic theatre is beautiful! EVERY ONE of the actors gave a GREAT performance tonight. BRAVO! It couldn’t have been better. The show is well written and was engaging the whole time. The entire crowd laughed and cheered more than any performance I can remember ever attending. It really was WONDERFUL and I hope you hurry and purchase your tickets as soon as you’re done reading this so you don’t miss out. I may have to see this one again before it ends. And I love this theatre so much that I already have tickets to see Elf. Thank you ALL for a job well done and providing my friend and I with a delightfully enjoyable experience!

We went to see the rocket man show. It was an awesome show can't wait till next year when he returns again. There is plenty of parking and some nice restaurants within walking distance of the theater. We had a great time and you will too.

We had a rocking good time at the Athens Theater listening to the ultimate Pink Floyd show, the Surrogate Band. Super theater with great acoustics.Friendly people, great downtown area, plenty of restaurants to choose from. An overall great experience, and we will be back!

We saw "Misery" last night, September 29th. The play was wonderful, and the actors were superb. We were 4 "cousin" couples, and everyone really enjoyed it.The theater itself is very pretty, and the staff is terrific.

What a "Rent"-tastic experience at the Athens Theatre! From the moment you step foot into this breathtaking venue, you're enveloped in charm and elegance. The ambiance sets the stage for an unforgettable evening. But let's talk about the real show-stopper - the production of "Rent"! The cast delivered a performance that was nothing short of spectacular. Every note hit just right, every scene executed with precision. And let's give a standing ovation to the actress who portrayed Maureen - she stole the spotlight and left us all in awe with her talent and charisma.Whether you're a die-hard fan of musical theatre or just looking for a night of entertainment, do yourself a favor and catch a show at the Athens Theatre. You won't be disappointed!

My sister and I were there last night for A Tribute to Prince. It was fantastic. Comfortable seating. Pleasant staff. Great show.

Went for the first time to see a tribute band to Kiss, and it was great! Very nice venue and it was on the smaller side which we liked. All the seats were good view. We will go see another show in the future.

Love this place. What a great way to see a show on a budget and introduce the kids to theater.Very friendly staff with fun shows available year round. Clean updated bathrooms.

Ryan Svolto — Google review

I would give them five if they had an elevator. All shows have been professional level with extremely talented artist, beautiful sets and great variety. You can see the millions they poured into the restoration. It's a beautiful, well preserved piece of history. The prices are a little high for what's considered community theatre but it's worth it.Tip: if it's not a performance you need to watch the slightly obstructed views are a great savings but beware there is no elevator or handicap access to the balcony.

Troy C. — Google review

Such a lovely venue.Acoustics were spot on.We were in the uppermost row in the balcony still great viewing.Large parking on the side and municipal parking across the street.Beverage service as well...if so inclined.

A great organization. The folks that work/volunteer here are so much fun and delightful. The concert we saw was top notch and for an older theatre, the chairs and seating were quite comfortable. First class experience all around! Thank you.

Travelled to Deland from Palm Beach County for Brothers Again - Allman Bros tribute band and it did not disappoint! Comfortable seating, great parking and conveniently situated in walking distance to restaurants. The acoustics were good and their was a bar in the lobby and inside the theater for beer and wine. The restrooms were clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. Great venue!

WIsconsinites visited your lovely theatre to see Fleetwood Mac which was excellent! Major disappointment with large group of inebriated women sitting behind us. Loud talking & laughing entire show. Asked them several times to allow us to enjoy show but to no avail. Plan on returning next year but will try to get box seats

State park

Nature & Parks

Hontoon Island Adventures is a state park that offers a variety of family-friendly activities suitable for all ages. Visitors can enjoy renting canoes and utilizing the picnic area while taking in the natural beauty of the park. The bike and hiking trails cater to all levels, making it an excellent spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Booking a cabin online would allow guests to fully experience everything this beautiful state park has to offer, such as fishing and other recreational opportunities.

Always a great place to visit. Playground and picnic area, small visitor center, walki g trails, bike rentals, marina, clean restrooms, rocking chairs. Great place to stop and relax. Unfortunately, the island was flooded a few months ago, and the camping area and visitor center will not reopen until late August.

Sam M (Drivebytourist) — Google review

It was a wonderful experience. We decided to go canoeing/kayaking around the island and it was really great the wind was out to get us but beautiful scenery nonetheless. The camp sites are open and maintained no power but you're trying to escape from that so I enjoy it.

The best Florida state park I have stayed at. Quiet and serene with great manicured hiking trails. Best of all I saw zero trash in the park, even deep in the woods. I am almost afraid to post a review; I don't want to many people to know about it.

Kenne Sparks — Google review

Used to love coming to this park. But thanks to hurricane and change of staff and management, this park is run down. They don't take care of it anymore. Every single trail is closed, camping closed, no ferry to the island. This park used to be wonderful but it has gone downhill. Please get a better manager and better staff!! The crew from 4 years ago used to be amazing. We boated in a couple of weeks ago and everyone was sitting around on their laptops.. This is such a shame and these people should be ashamed of themselves.

C D — Google review

Only 4 stars because you have to use your own boat, no ferry anymore.

Neil Matthews — Google review

Really nice experience, the ferry to the island is free and they accept donations, everyone we met was super chill and polite. Turns out they also have what they refer to as primitive cabins for reasonable prices to rent out. Would easily return again with friends and donations.

Yvonne Lazarus — Google review

No ferry 👎🏼 Never got over to the island. A very big disappointment!

Laura Reagan — Google review

We had a great experience as a family with young kids here. The entire park is beautiful and they have amazing bike trails as well as hiking trails for all levels. I would recommend booking a cabin online and staying for a couple of days to enjoy the nature, fishing and everything this beautiful state park has to offer.

We found this place by accident we were actually going to Blue Springs Park but they were closed because they were full. Our lucky day we found this Hidden Gem and put our kayaks in the water here and had a great time. Don't forget to visit the visitor center across the way, you can take a ferry over there and they also rent canoes and kayaks and have hiking trails.

Stephanie Fuller — Google review

I loved this little island approximately 40 minutes from Orlando. Free ferry ⛴ over only 6 at a time so you may have to wait. State park run by volunteers so be patient. Once you cross there are great areas to picnic and play and a little store with comfy rockers out front overlooking water. Dog and kid friendly and nice easy walking path through old growth and new growth areas. They also rent kayaks, bikes, and affordable cabins. I was on my way to Blue Springs State Park and they were full, this park is approximately 20 minutes from there and well worth checking out. I have included many pics. If you find this helpful please like.

This place is amazing..Everyone is so friendly. The ferry runs every couple minutes.. The park rangers and staff make sure this place is clean and everyone is so helpful they even have boat and bike rentals. Wonderful camping sites. And cute cozy cottages. I will return here again and again. Wonderful hiking trails. For a nice bike ride or a quiet peaceful walk. They have a 5k trail anda 10k trail. And too see all the aninals..

Despite being a friday it was quite calm and quiet. The trails are well maintained and easy to hike. The recent rains had water up on a trail (which was marked as being a wet trail) at some places however it was still easy and in the lowest spots there were walkways in place. The cabins looked well maintained from the outside and were a easy walk from where you enter the park. As for price to enter, it was the best price, free, although they do accept donations. All in all a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

I truly enjoyed my visit to this park after waiting for almost three months for it to reopen, it didn't disappoint. The island is so serene and relaxing. The staff was all very helpful and nice. The park was clean and well-managed. Loved the short ferry ride and the trail hike . The nature trail was still closed but there are other routes you could take to get to the mounds, and the other side of the river. Saw different kinds of birds along the way. The Visitor Center is a great place to learn about the history of the island and its wildlifes. I couldn't recommend it enough, and it's only a short drive from Orlando!!! I will definitely be back.

Vicky Lewis — Google review

This was the most wonderful day my son and I have had in a long time. You start with a short ferry ride to the island, captained by an extremely welcoming and informative park ranger. As you dock, there is a massive playground to your left, canoes to rent to your right, and just ahead of you is a building containing a ranger's station, a gift shop, and a visitor's center which is like a room of a museum (that alone held the attention of my 9 year old and myself for quite some time). Apon the suggestion of the ranger that ferried us over, we headed to the right towards the hiking trail. There are several miles of trails on the island most hard dirt roads but the hiking trail avgs 36“ in width and involves some jumping and balancing but only to get around black muck filled low-lying areas (which only adds to the adventure). We saw an array of different birds on our trip, brave birds that were not startled by my excited son's voice. There is all sorts of wildlife in the island including deer, gator, and bear but we didn't run into anything of the sort. We spent 5 hours hiking and walking around the park. On our way back to ferry we passed through to camping area that boasted more than a dozen firepits, grills, and camping sites including cabins. There are bathrooms and showers situated in the middle of the large camping area. We decided that we will be renting one of those cabins before the summer hits. If you like fishing, look no further, there are two rivers and a lake off her shores. The only thing I regret is not having cash on me to donate to the park, I won't make that mistake next time (which could be today, they are open 365 days a year).
